a: hazy golden-white in color, good head with moderate retention

s: upfront doughy yeasts accompany coriander and subtle orange peel, a wheat malt sweetness gives it depth, fruity, very aromatic fruits and spice

m: soft carbonation around medium, medium body

t: clean but full wheat body supports flavorful doughy yeast and wit spices, sweet orange and coriander, extra layer of depth than you'd find in a typical wit as a result of the kicked up malt and alcohol, quite nice

d: quite easy, refreshing for a double style

Served in a pint glass at Tyler's Taproom in Apex. ABV listed on the menu was 7.9%.

Light golden color with a bit of cloudiness and a short white head that diminished very quickly. Lacing was light to moderate.

Aromas were one of the best attributes of this brew. There was plenty of wheaty bubblegum, spices of coriander & orange peel, and a touch of that fresh light fruity yeast. Very nice.

This was described as a "double wit" and I wasn't really sure what to expect with that kind of ABV. I was pleasantly surprised that I really didn't even notice the taste of any alcohol. If anything, the additional alcohol added to mouthfeel and intensity of the flavors which really hit the spot for me. A good pull rolls a light but relatively creamy brew over the tongue that quickly shows off the many flavors contained therein. It starts just a touch sweet and then quickly goes to the dry side, finishing dry and clean with little to no linger.

Very enjoyable and very drinkable, even with the higher ABV. I'll probably have this one again soon, although I think it is only available on-tap or at the brewery.

On tap at Tyler's in Durham:

This beer's actual name is "Belle Wringer Double Wit" according to the brewery, and it certainly fits the "double" designation. The draft arrives a glowing orange amber with a thin white head that retains at a ring and leaves a few speckles of lacing on the glass.

The smell is exceptionally fruity and spicy, with plenty of coriander and Curacao orange.

The taste of the drink is orangey and spicy, with savory dry malt and a citrus rind bitterness that keeps the beer from getting too sweet.

Silky and slick with excellent drinkability.

Appearance is pretty. Glowing and cloudy amber orange beer topped by a white fleeting head that is too slick to stick. Smell is of sweet orange, farm flowers, a variety of spice, tangy wheat, and soft bready malt to balance. I do enjoy smelling this. Taste is sweetly orange and spiced as well, with fine carbonation, some wheat zest and smooth even bitterness. Its a double wit supposedly but doesn't really seem all that double to me. The way it feels combined with the sense-able alcohol lets me know its double. Extra slick texture, medium body and easy to suck down.

I'd get this again. I wouldn't recommend more than three or four back to back, but this is enjoyable.

Hazy golden-yellow with a thin, creamy head. Sweet coriander, citrus peel, wheat, light phenolics, and peppery dandelions. Sweet, yet bitter oranges and more coriander...zesty and a bit tart. Peppery with a touch of vanilla. Medium bodied...long aftertaste. I believe this is around 8% and for that, it's pretty drinkable, though I don't think I'd want more than a couple glasses in a row.

Straw yellow pour, bright white head, with a good citrus/coriander nose. BBDW is a "big" Wit, with a slightly heavy feel, pronounced spice/hops, and an aftertaste of malt. The name really does set up the beer well: think dubbel, and think wit, and this pretty much nails it. I had it on tap, close to the brewery. I'd hope that it would hold up upon bottling but was unable to test that.

Pours a nice light straw yellow with a decent head that diminished to a ring but left slight lacing. The aroma was wheat malts and sweet fruits. The taste was nice and sweet with a lot of citrus qualities to it, a strong taste of orange dominates. The beer is slightly heavy with some stickiness, but still tolerable. This is a unique beer, but not something I'd seek out that often.
