Appearance: brown with a reddish hue to it. virtually no head but a tan lacing. almost opaque.

Smell: plums and belgian yeast

Taste: plums, belgian yeast, some tartness comes through. kind of an odd taste. not balanced too well

Mouthfeel: has a weird hotness that comes through. way to hot for 7.5. other than that pretty light in body.

Overall: its not an awful beer but its just no comparison to other belgian standards

Bottle shared by solidfunk (RB), 12oz into a tulip.

Brown, with a cream coloured heard. Ring of retention. Nose of raw banana, Belgo yeast, spice and some bready malt notes. Taste is bready, caramel, yeast, some coriander and interesting spice notes. Medium light feel. Moderate complexity, not bad but not outstanding.

Bubbly gum and yeast aroma. Only a sipper. Fruity and Orange taste. Middle mouthfeel. Somewhat too sweet.Missed Michigan so thanks for sharing Josh. Tad Above average mouthfeel and large head in pour. OK beer, would like more complexity, less sweet bias.

12 ounce bottle into chalice, no bottle dating. Pours hazy brick red color with a small off white head with ok retention, that reduces to a thin ting of lace. Minimal spotty lacing on the glass; minimal streaming carbonation. Aromas of big raisin, prune, grape, pear, molasses, caramel, and light yeast spiciness. Aromas are ok, but are really sweet with almost no spiciness. Taste of raisin, prune, caramel, pepper, apple, toast, biscuit, molasses, earth, and slight yeast spices. Lingering notes of dark fruit, molasses, caramel, biscuit, toast, earth, and yeast spices on the finish for a bit. Flavors seem a bit stale and off balance. Slight cloying sweetness as well. Light carbonation and medium bodied; with a fairly slick and creamy mouthfeel. Alcohol is well hidden at 7.5% with hardly any warming after the finish. Very smooth to sip on. Overall this is a pretty mediocre Belgian trappist ale. Definitely needs more peppery yeast spices to balance it out at the very least.

A: Dark copper to brown, small white head that disappears quickly.

S: Not much initially. Slightly musty and earthy.

T: A lemon tartness is prominent. As the beer warms up more of the dark fruits and cloves come through.

M: Stronger carbonation than I expected.

O: This is a hard one to review. Tri-City calls this a Belgian Trappist Ale and to that I say, leave it to the monks. Not even fair to compare this to a Chimay, Rocherfort, or even a Duvel. But for a $2 beer from a Michigan small brewery I would rather drink this over any of the big domestics.
