My wife's Mom and Pop picked this up on their SW Winnebago trip.

22 poured into a Delerium goblet... tannish head with okay lacing and retention.. the brew is dark brown... not quite dark enough for a standard porter.

Very... VERY light cocoa and BIG fruity esters... minor dark chocolate.. light in all traditional "porter" qualities... buttery diacetyl with warmth.

Flavor is pretty much the same as the nose, but the fruity esters are way heavier than any porter notes.... long lingering diacetyl on the finish.

Body is good... so is the carbonation....

In a blind tasting, I NEVER would have guessed this a porter... A decent brown brew, but nothing near a porter.

A nice, ruby black, with reasonable lacing if a bit thin on the head side of things.

Superb aroma, tons of chocolate, roasted malt, french-roast coffee... if this baby had a bit more head to it this might be further accentuated... which would be delightful.

Taste is more of the same... but lighter, and less rich than expected. Which is fine in a porter, but ultimately this was a bit too thin/light all around, and absent more prevalent carbonation made it seem a tad watery. Which is not to say that this wasn't eminently drinkable, just that it doesn't quite stand up to the winter evening by the fireplace test. That said, it was broilingly hot when I stepped in to the brewery, and this was a great way to round out my early supper.
