I was over towards Woodbury and decided to stop in. An employee asked me if I needed any help almost immediately. The selection is pretty good. They had Flying fish, Victory, avery, as well as several Belgians. The prices were fair, if you could find them. I had to take a few items to the register to determine the prices. They had a sale that recently ended and were repricing things. This is not the end of the world but it is hard to compare prices when you have to walk halfway across the store to determine prices. All that being said it is worth stopping by if you are in the area, but it is not a go to destination.
Edit:
I wnet today to get a limited release and the beer guy was less than helpful, and had never heard of the beer. When I asked him to look it up on the computer he was curt and did not do it. If you go do not expect much help.

Most JC locations are great, but this may be the best of them all, though I admit, I haven't frequented the chain much if at all since I've moved to PA over 5 years ago. I visited this particular location recently for the first time.

Yes, there is a growler fill station, which is a nice option, if that's your thing. The beer selection is, well, you pretty much can't get any better in the area. So, great. There are 6 packs, 12 packs, cases, bombers, and mix-a-six options, and all prices are pretty much on par. The staff seemed friendly and helpful. I asked a guy if they had anything "special" (maybe off-the-shelf), but he perfunctorily led me to a shelf of reasonably easy to get items from the likes of Ommegang and such. He knew a lot about the basics of the craft beer scene, and for a customer who is novice to intermediate in craft beer knowledge, he had lots of good advice to give. There was nothing he could tell me that I didn't know, but it's nice to see the knowledge is there for those who need it.

If you're in the area and you need your craft beer fix, look no further.

Very good selections for growlers, a good mix, and they are always on point for each season. I am impressed with the number of single selections as well. It's nice to be able to go and find exactly what you are looking for. All single bottles are alphabetical. This place is a strong competitor to Total Wine and More.

One of the best bottle shops in South Jersey with the unique feature of a growler filling station.

Located in a strip mall, this is a large liquor store with a huge selection of craft beer and the aforementioned growler station. Tons of coolers along with a very long aisle of room temp beers. The selection is really good with a great representation of beers from all over the world. Lots of Belgian, Scandinavian, Italian, American, German and British beers. Lots of Mikkeller, Drie Fonteinen, Struise, Del Ducato, Fantome, etc plus a very wide selection of American craft. In addition the prices are very reasonable, a bit cheaper than competitive shops in the area.

The growler station had about 8 taps but none of them were out of the ordinary. Lots of flagship beers and one or two seasonals. These rotate so the selection constantly changes.

I was really impressed with this place and it will probably become my go to shop for bottles in the area.

Local to my work and worth the trip. Jay the beer manager always gets some good stuff. Staff knows whats available and when things will be coming in stock. They dont really have any rare stuff but selection is great and they have a growler station which def rocks!!! Prices are very good store is clean and easy to find stuff. Lots of singles and bombers available organized by brand. some coolers with craft brews on the wall for those looking to enjoy after a long day of work. They really dont offer food and i never have checked there wine out so dont have anything to say about that.

This Joe Canals quite possibly has the most educated staff working for any liquor store I have ever been in. The Beer guy there gives great recommendations if I ever want to try something new. Besides having a very great selection of microbrews and imports, they have a well rotated tap station to fill growlers! I am also impressed when I ask if they can get some unique beers, they always try and please, and most of the time can get what you want. They also have a very knowledgeable staff in other departments as well such as wines and whiskeys.

Really suprised at the huge selection of Belgian and craft beer in here and it rivals the selection of the Foodery in N. Libs in Philly. The prices were much better here though and only a 20 minute drive from Center City. Picked up Firestone Walker XIV and Black Xantus on 01/08/10, and they told me they had several cases of the XIV left. I could have easily dropped a lot of cash in here and had to hold back. Definitely will be back here in the future. Didn't try it, but they also have a growler filling station which is kinda nice and hope to try in the future.

Found this store during a business trip.
The beer selection and prices are excellent.
The ambient temperature beer was on two long aisles in the store that also carries an extensive wine selection and distilled spirits also. Then there were the cooler selection of beers, mostly macros. And then there were various small shelf collections of specialty or promotion beers.
The staff was helpful and knowledgeable about beers they had in stock and beers that they could not stock.
Given their range and selection of beers, it was quite surprising to me that this is such a large chain in the NJ area.
Canal's, you are welcome to head south to the Atlanta area.
I will have to bring another suitcase the next time I am in NJ/Philly area to bring back some treasure that cannot be had at home.

Once I found out about the growler fill station four months ago, this has been my go to. Great selection of craft, well laid out. However, I did notice that some of the individual bottle selections prices were very expensive. Some individual bottles of Victory and DFH Saison du Buff were more than $1.50 higher than stores closer to my place.

The growler station is nice, but again a bit pricey. 64 ounce growlers means you're getting roughly 5 beers per fill of some nice draft beer. However, if you check the prices, you pay significantly more per beer than you would buying a four/six pack. Again, its great to have the option, but price differential is staggering for some products.

This is really my only gripe with store, albeit a fairly substantial one. The selection is great, some beers that you will not find any where else you can find here. Even with the higher prices, I still find myself stopping in at least twice a week to find a gem.

I was in this store on 8/3/2010

To try some of the great lakes brewing companys fine products.

Upon picking up some eliot ness and taking it home I found it expiered nearly a year prior. 9/8/2009.

The beer tasted fine so I didn't think much of it. Considering Great Lakes brewing stuff isnt that popular here I can understand

I returned just yesterday 8/9/2010 To buy some beer.
I went down the list of things I wanted.
Circus Boy Hefeweizen Past date
Sierra Nevada Hefewiezen Past Date
etc etc.
A good amount of the selection of thier create you're own six pack we're expiered. So that was a bummer.

However, a huge plus was they had started to stock thier Autumn ales and have a fine selection at a reasonable price.

So in conclusion. Pretty okay store, just check the dates.

I wish I could deem this joint "inexpensive". Their prices have to be the lowest in South Jersey. Their selection is quite probably the best in South Jersey - and by "South Jersey" I mean within 20-25 of Philly. Better than Total Wine in Cherry Hill. Better than those expensive poofs at Martin's in Mt Laurel (by the way - both of those ever-so-slightly less savory stores have a great selection, fyi).

8 taps for growlers that rotate on a mad consistent basis. They normally feature up 6-7 offerings from a different brewery each week and often have a rep from the brewery present each said week to shoot the schisse. You are permitted and encouraged to sample any and all beers they have on tap.

The dude, Joe, I generally deal with at he growler stand is quite personable. The cashiers are also quite nice and helpful.

Best place in area. Go. Fill growler(s). Make happy.

I've been coming to this place about 2 years now. The beer manager is Jay. Since Jay has taken over the Beer Manager role he has had 8 Taps on for Growlers. Great selection of beer. If they don't have it and you can get it in NJ, tell him and he will get the distributor to bring it in. If you don't see it on the shelves ask, most of the time they just run out of room and have it in the back. They mix and match six packs for 10% off. They have singles, 4 and 6packs, and cases. Seriously this place is amazing. And if bourbon is your thing they have a couple of bottles of Pappy 23 year still on the shelves. Awesome wine and hard liqueur selection. They get all there new stuff on Tuesday and by Wednesday if has found a home somewhere on the shelf. My only problem with this place is the organization of the beer, but Jay is in the process of tackling that.

Located in Jersey right across the river from Philly. Basically This Joe Canal's is a huge warehouse sized room filled with alcohol. A bunch of wine, hard alcohol and my favorite beer. A clean and organized store. There is a help desk in the center of the store if you have any questions, a nice touch in my opinion. The selection is quite impressive. Singles, 4-6 packs of some offerings, imports, trappists, and BMC, if that's your type of thing. Nothing out of the ordinary except for what's registered in the state. 10% off mixed sixers, and it sure as hell beats paying PA prices. Go Here!

I just found this place a couple weeks back, and I'm glad I did.

This is the closest beer store I've found in state with a great selection. While it's by no means exhaustive, they do have a few brands I haven't seen elsewhere (Founder's, for example). For bourbon fans, this is the only place I've seen Pappy 20 and 23 (which are $80 and $170, respectively).

The layout is bright, clean, and inviting. Mixed sixpacks are 10% off. It's definitely out of my way to drop in, but it's worth it everytime.

I have been going to this store for about a year now and I tell you in the South Jersey area there is nothing better. Rodger, The beer guy, is always helpful and has tried about all the beers they sell. So if you have a question He'll tell you what he thought. The place is large with a great selections of singles. If any beer is distributed in NJ you will find it at this place. Nothing overly fancy but Good, clean, and helpful. I go often when I'm in need of stocking up and if I have any special request I just let them know and they keep it on hold for me. This is the place to go if you are in the area.

My in-laws live in Wenonah and I used to go over to Monster Beverage when we’d visit, but this much closer. It is at least as good as Monster selection wise and is better from a cleanliness and layout standpoint. The prices were pretty good. The selection had a few things I was quite suprised to see such as Arcadia Cereal Killer and Green Flash Barleywine and DIPA. No singles, but a good bomber selection. I easily spent $100 and would have spent much more if they’d had a singles selection. Worth a stop if you are in the area and the prices are good.

Comparable to Monster in Glassboro in number of beers and variety, but cleaner and better lit. Help desk in the middle of the store. Beers to the left rear; belgians, germans, english , micros. I go once a month to stock up and there are usually some new arrivals. Met their beer guy once and he was engaging, helpful and not overbearing. Also stock help searched the back room and dug me up a case of Brooklyn stout. Gave a 10% discount on a case of 750s (don't know if they do it on a mixed case). Friendly cashiers too.
