(4.25) A: Black with a tall and bubbly dirty beige head. Commendable retention with some lacing left against the glass.
(4.5) S: Bitter bakers chocolate, molasses, gingerbread, dried dark fruits (most noticeably figs), caramel, and also some hints of fruity-bubblegum. The prevailing aroma is of a thick and rich figgy molasses with various winter spices.
(4.5) T: Figs, bitter molasses, sweet caramel, plums, lots of different spices, faint smoke, and herbal qualities. Quite an earthy bitterness present throughout to compliment a very malty backbone. As others have pointed out, this also has an oak-like flavour that adds another layer to the malt. Excellent.
(4.25) M: Medium bodied with lively carbonation. Pleasantly creamy with a suitable syrup quality.
(4.5) D: This is very flavourful and rich with spices and that bitter herbal quality. Perfect for this, the coldest night of the year.
