2007 version poured into a snifter. Dark brown with a chalky, rocky head that dissipated after a minute or so.
Smell was somewhat similar to an English barleywine, with rich malts dominating the scent.
Taste also had rich malts, with notes of toffee. Dark fruits were also present. A sweet beer, but not cloyingly so.
Mouthfeel was full but beer didn't feel overly viscous as I've come to expect from this style. Heavy in flavor, but it wasn't syrupy.
The rich flavors and somewhat high abv% make this somewhat of a sipper, but with its lighter mouthfeel, I could definitely have had another one.
A stellar, well-balanced brew.
