Great beer. Very complex, herb, smoke, oak, chocolate. Bright acidity and high toned. Long finish and opened up further with even more time in the glass and as it warmed up. Seems like it would age well for years. poured out of 33cl. de struise never fails for me.

2011 vintage. Lot 2015190511-24FF.

Pours an opaque super dark brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Tiny dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of toasted malt, molasses, dark fruit, spice, and slight cardboard aromas. Taste is much the same with caramel, toffee, molasses, fruit, and roast flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roast bitterness and a slight alcohol kick on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a very good beer with an interesting mix of aromas and flavors all around.
