Bottle received in a recent trade. '09 vintage. Thanks Adam!

Pours a dark purplish brown, almost black, with a short lived half inch head, and no lacing. Looks still.

Smells pretty grapey, a bit vinous, with some chocolate, tobacco, sherry, and slight oxidation.

This tastes amazing, but I'm not sure it's an improvement on regular Pannepot. There's a great dark fruit flavor, raisin puree, dark cherries, grapes, wine, sherry, and some slight but pleasant oxidation. As it warms, I get a bit more malt complexity in the form of chocolate and tobacco. This is at an age where it's probably gonna start falling off soon- the oxidation is at a pleasant level, but it might get worse soon.

This is medium bodied, with a silky and oily mouthfeel, and a very low level of carbonation. It's a slow sipper for sure, but not because of the alcohol- it's not present at all at about 6 years old.

This is a really nicely done beer that has aged quite nicely. I don't know how it tastes fresh, but at 6 years old, it's quite tasty. Regular Pannepot is probably better, but I wouldn't kick this one out of bed.

Small tan head, quickly fading. Extremely dark brew straddling the line between brown and black; relatively clear.

Classic quad aroma; prunes dominant; barest hint of dry spices; cola, vanilla, and a bit of oak.

Flavor is a lovely, thick, complex blend of all things Pannepot and oak: prunes, plums, and red grapes; dry spices; notes of creamy chocolate and coffee running throughout; slightly tart and very woody oak; brown sugar and molasses; kiss of vanilla on the finish.

Thick and extremely smooth mouthfeel; nice warming in the chest, but otherwise no real hint of alcohol; lively mouthfeel with no sting or foaming. Long lingering aftertaste, sticky and cloying and sweet.

A fabulous, one-of-a-kind quad, Pannepot again hits it out of the park. Just the right amount of sweetness.

2010 bottle, reviewed Jan 2015. No sign of oxidation whatsoever.

This is for the 2010 vintage
Poured into St Bernardus goblet
A- poured a dark color with brown highlights. A bit of sediments floating around. Not a big head, but a lingering cream-colored head with near zero lace.
S- sweet bready malts, ripened dark fruit along the lines of raisins, figs, dates.
T- follows the nose, loses some of the fruits. Tastes much better than the 2009. Hardly any heat at all
M- medium-bodied, medium-carbed.
O- as stated earlier, this one really outshines the 2009. Tasted very similar to St Bernardus' Abt 12. This is what I expect a Belgian Quad to taste like!

Vintage 2010 (5 years aged)

About to follow this beer up with a Pannepot Grand Reserva 2009 Vintage.

Pours opaque dark brown with little khaki foam sitting on top. The nose is hints of dark fruit and booze. Flavors of chocolate, plums, vanilla, red apple, alky heat, toffee. Nice subtle crispy carbo, medium feel. Sweet lingering on my tongue.

A very well aged hoe
