330ml bottle labeled for Canadian import.

..A primer for Ebenezer's fourth annual Belgian fest.. Bring it!

Pours opaque black with barely translucent mahogany edging. A massive, four inch head of mocha foam rose up quickly to the rim. A lethargic retreat revealed thick ropes of tan foam and a dome of dense froth on the surface.

Aromatics are a complex mix of raisins, espresso, rum, dark chocolate, and grape jam.
Some fruity vineousity struggles forward, and a breath of bourbony booze comes after.

Full bodied with a thick, creamy mouthfeel. Sticky, chewy and lucious.

Dark chocolate, espresso, ripe fruit, rum, dried figs, and raisins lead off the pallet. Grape jam, boozy phenols, and a hint of Kahlua follow through.

Finishes warming on the throat, with lingering rum-spiked marmalade and fading chocolate.

A very different beer from the draft-only batch that was on tap at Ebenezer's.
This one is almost a Quad/Royal stout hybrid.
Thinner in body, lighter in viscosity, and missing the massive underlying hop presense.
In place there is the classic Quad profile that steps up. Grape jam, rum-soaked raisins, and plenty of phenols.
It's almost as if there was a different yeast strain used and the beer fermented at a higher temperature.
Nontheless, an incredible beer in it's own right, and quite complex.

Big props to ma main man Delerium for the sample. Thanks bro!

Poured bottle with batch B6BB into Lost Abbey Teku

A-Pours an all black body with a thick creamy brown head.

S-Aroma of dark berries, cocoa, roast, raisins and spices.

T-Taste is fruity yet dry roasted, dark chocolate, raisins, and a sense of vanilla towards the finish. Lovely mocca and cocoa aftertaste.

M-Mouthfeel is well rich body, great balance here. Good carbonation

O-Overall it was well worth the money I paid for this a special 4 of July treat.

29/11 2012 bottle.

Look: Very dark, syrupy pour with average sized, very thick, solid, dark mocha head. Slow, consistent and very pretty retention, mostly diminishes, the thin layer still leaves fair amount of fine lacing. Colour is dark, dark brown.

Smell: Intense burst out of the bottle. Raisins, dry plums with medium fat sweetness, mostly milk chocolate, burned caramel and roast. Touch of sour (dark fruit notes) and a very light alcohol feel in the nose - combined they break the fatness. Fat, rich but in good harmony.

Taste: Surprisingly pleasant, fruity (dry fruits - raisins, dry apricots) start. Smooth, medium sweetness develops into a rich, strong medium-heavy but still smooth sweet middle, mostly chocolate driven with strong, fat caramel. Light sour still present, not so dark fruity, more notes come from different dry fruits - sour dry cranberries come to mind. Sourness with a very light, subtle alcohol spike refreshes the whole thing. The end is medium-heavy mostly coffee, roast bitterness with a solid light hop character (noble). The after-taste is mostly roast with some very light noble hop and light chocolate sweetness.

Mouthfeel: Full, heavy body, very creamy, smooth. Light alcohol to detect, it is very well incorporated, breaks the solid, fat sweetness.

Overall: One of the best in the style for me. If you can get your hand on it, do so. Rich, smooth, fat and fun, all that it wants to be and more.
