A: Pours a light orange/amber color with two finger white frothy head that refuses to subside. The bottom of this bottle had a good quarter inch of yeast. Lots of carb. bubbles.
S: Smells of raisins or overripe grapes. Cannot perceive the typical north american hops aroma. This is different. It is like old fruit swimming in malt.
T: Ample sweetness. The dark fruits continue to dominate the early than the hops finally come in but only as a bittering on the back of the tongue. (I have a hard time believing this is 130 IBU!) I cannot pick out any type of grapefruit/piney flavor of your typical north american hop. The finish is a slight vanilla. This beer states that it is 9% on the bottle but I don't perceive it until the very last part of the swallow.
M: This beer has a prickly mouthfeel with a dry finish.
O: This was a wonderful beer. I thought I was buying a tongue buster 130 IBU american pale ale instead I was treated to a melange of flavor that I have never experienced from an APA in North America. A real treat!

330ml bottle poured into a De Struise Cervoise.
Appearance: Golden dark yellow with a nice 2" head, that recedes to a nice cap and leaves excellent lacing.
Smell: Floral hops, bready malt, and Belgian candy sugar all equally noticeable.
Taste: Floral hop bitterness up-front with the bready malt and sweet candy sugar coming through in the middle and finish. The hops are more forward when cold the warmer the beer becomes the more caramel is noticeable form the malt and candy sugar.
Mouthfeel: Very creamy and very clean on the palate. The alcohol is completely masked,
Overall: Really nice take on the DIPA style only very Belgian and very De Struise, excellent beer.
