Bottle with no discernible date on cap or anywhere else, poured into lachouffe snifter.
A - a big pfft! as the cap comes off. shit! this beer is incredibly effervescent. a tiny pour reveals that the brew just wants to make head, and giving a three second pour along the side gives a huge four finger head, which is made of really big bubbles and has a decently creamy feel to it. the head retains a really freaking long time; quite insanely so. lacing is also good. the body of the beer is a orange, but more ruddy, amber ruby colour. very beautiful. once you get to the bottom of the bottle the body get a bit turbid as the yeast mixes into the beer.
S - has a good medium strength hop smell to it; there is some spicy presence, but nothing that notable. quite a simple, one-sided aroma. I was really hoping for more.
T - initial taste is quite a fruity hop extravaganza. very hoppy indeed! this is like no american double I have ever had. it is bitter and a bit sweet at the same time, though the bitterness of the hops wins out for the overall taste; grapefruit is the most identifiable flavour, but there are some other citruses and some more spicy flavours to be noticed. though the beer is not spicy in any way, the flavours of spices are still evident. the finish is a masterful blend of sweet and bitter, mixing the malts and the hops quite well. the aftertaste is a dumbed down version of the finish, still bitter and sweet but not quite as much as the finish.
MF&D - very carbonated, but the body is right for the style: a low medium. paired with the carbonation the body comes out pretty well, but I find that sheer amount of carbonation a bit off putting. the beer is also very smooth with its viscosity.

P: Murky dark caramel body that looks similar to unfiltered pure apple cider. A massive cloudy of khaki clouds perch above and micro bubble chain male wrap the edges.
S: Belgian candy sugar, sweet plums, dark cherries, moldy oak, pilsner malt, medicinal yeast, raisin pound cake, toffee and honey sticks.
T/M: Thick sticky sweet malts, loads of barley, toffee, sourdough toast, tea tannins, dark fruits, with an abrasive chalky yeast and hop bitterness medley that cuts straight through the sugary start. Soda pop carbonation in medium body finishing with a dry rustic linger.
O: This was an interesting brew to say the least. Harsh bitterness with a huge sugary malt profile. This almost comes across as a hopped up quad. I think I might grab another bottle. Cheers!
