i suspect this one has faded quite a bit, not sure how old it is, never seen it before for sale ever, or even heard of it, but found a bottle at a forgotten bottle shop outside of town and couldnt leave it there. it looks alright, a hazy dark caramel colored brew, heady too, hard to control on the pour with a rising almost explosive off white head thats thick and bubbly and lasting. hoppy nose, but it seems a little stale and the grain maybe has held on better than the hops have, making a more balanced beer than it was probably intended to be. the hops are interestingly more on the front end than the finish, and there is a lot of sugar in this, too sweet for what its supposed to be, and honestly im surprised its not more dry being all old, i cant imagine it was pasteurized. carbonation is way up, matching the appearance, and there is some bitterness way after the sweetness is gone after the swallow. i respect it, think its cool, but its not all that good. i bet it was pretty intense when it was first brewed, no date visible on this bottle. id like to see this made again and try it fresh, hard to ponder an older ipa, but i like the yeast profile on it, always appreciate a big ipa with a little yeast character, just more unique that way, but this isnt quite belgian. cool beer but no longer relevant i dont think. never really love a beer thats sugary and boozy at the same time.

Poured a copper body with dense head that dies slow and there's some lace. A mostly citric hop aroma but there seems to be a little sweetness from both malts and fruits in the nose. A drier, hoppier IPA than most but not a taste bud killer at all. Mostly citric hops but the balance and taste of the sweet malts (caramel is all I really detect) is pretty good and a little spicy, crisp finish complements the medium bodied beer. Pretty good beer and one that is a little sweeter than your average IPA but still packs a crispy hop wallop.

P: Murky dark caramel body that looks similar to unfiltered pure apple cider. A massive cloudy of khaki clouds perch above and micro bubble chain male wrap the edges.

S: Belgian candy sugar, sweet plums, dark cherries, moldy oak, pilsner malt, medicinal yeast, raisin pound cake, toffee and honey sticks.

T/M: Thick sticky sweet malts, loads of barley, toffee, sourdough toast, tea tannins, dark fruits, with an abrasive chalky yeast and hop bitterness medley that cuts straight through the sugary start. Soda pop carbonation in medium body finishing with a dry rustic linger.

O: This was an interesting brew to say the least. Harsh bitterness with a huge sugary malt profile. This almost comes across as a hopped up quad. I think I might grab another bottle. Cheers!
