Poured into a snifter. Lot B with a best by of September 2015. Big thanks to SteveFinny for this.
3.5 A: Black color. One and a half fingers of frothy light brown head. Retention is good for a beer this big and a very short ring of lacing is left. Some yeasties throughout with a higher concentration on the bottom.
5.0 S: Well damn, this smells fan-fucking-tastic, which is a surprise since I'm not much of a fan of Black Albert or Cuvee Delphine. Foremost, this is dripping with molasses and caramel and nearly as much chocolate. Solid, yet smooth roastiness. Coffee is found after all these other flavors, but still contributes well. Brown sugar, dates, and maybe some raisins underneath. There's just the slightest hint of the barrel from Delphine, but I probably wouldn't notice it if I didn't know it was in there. Quite sweet as well. I hope it tastes as rich as it smells.
4.0 T: Not bad. Definitely an improvement over Albert. Much earthier than the nose suggests. Indeed, it tastes a hell of a lot different than the nose. The barreling comes out a lot stronger. Leather, oak, mineral, and vanilla all stick out. Tangy roastiness with big earth notes. Still plenty of chocolate, but less caramel and molasses. More raisin and dates. Moderate espresso influence. A lot less sweet than the nose as well.
4.5 M: Heavier medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Very nice creaminess in this. Mouthfeel is almost as good as the nose.
3.5 D: The taste was a borderline 3.5, so I have to dock this a bit overall. Still, quite enjoyable.

Bottle from the local shop popped right after an infected BD3: Black Mes. This one is another gusher. Pours pitch black with a small mocha colored head into my mini snifter. A somewhat metallic aroma with cardboard, roasty chocolate, and, yes, more sour apple as in the Black Mes. F this. Flavor is sour apple cardboard with no trace of coffee, and maybe just a hint of chocolate. Medium mouthfeel with lowish carbonation but on the thinner side relative to what was expected. This seems both infected with bacteria and a good bit oxidized. Complete garbage. Sad face.
