On tap at Armsby Abbey at Stoutfest 2011. 6 oz poured into a stemmed glass. Tasted side x side x side with Black Damnation 3 and 4.
A - Pours pitch black and opaque with a low finger of cappuccino foam.
S - Coffee, chocolate, milky/creamy. Some bitter hops, low booze and a bit of a spicy aspect.
T - Very coffee/espresso with dark roasted malts. Light chocolate aspects, but rather subdued. A touch of alcohol.
M - Slight burn, warm, low carbonation. Very smooth. Easier drinking than a sipper, although still a fairly slow drinker.
O - I enjoyed this one - sits squarely in the middle of the Damnation series tried today. Pricey and hard to find, but worth a shot.

Bottle from the local shop popped right after an infected BD3: Black Mes. This one is another gusher. Pours pitch black with a small mocha colored head into my mini snifter. A somewhat metallic aroma with cardboard, roasty chocolate, and, yes, more sour apple as in the Black Mes. F this. Flavor is sour apple cardboard with no trace of coffee, and maybe just a hint of chocolate. Medium mouthfeel with lowish carbonation but on the thinner side relative to what was expected. This seems both infected with bacteria and a good bit oxidized. Complete garbage. Sad face.
