330mL Bottle purchased in Brussels September 2010, so either 2010 or 2009 vintage. Shared with MrKennedy and mulder1010. Reviewed from notes.
Deep black with an a sizable tan head, not overly dense, which falls busily to a collar.
Nose has some palpably sweet elements offset by some dry coffee and pungent toastiness. The sweet contingent deals out candy floss, cherry ripe and red apple mainly. Quite unorthodox for a stout, but that's probably down to the Belgian yeast strain.
Toffee apple, sweet dark fruits, plums, fairy floss and some bright charry roast. Great flavour profile and quite sweet overall, but with a dry toasty edge.
Medium bodied with busy but silky carbonation. Super light for 12%.
Lovely stout which has mellowed nicely with age.

Serves in a snifter at Ale Arsenal.
A: Black. No head. Reddish edges but opaque.
S: It smells sour, wine-like.
T/M: It tastes completely different. Booze, vanilla, hints of roasted coffee, grapey finish. Rather thin bodied, especially for the ABV.
O: Delicious, but not exceptional. I wouldn't have another, but it's definitely interesting.
Serving type: on-tap
