On-tap at Ebenezer's leading up to the Night of the Great Thirst; reviewed from notes.
A: Hazy gold body with a finger of fine white head that settles into a ring and leaves spotty lace. Ok.
S: Pleasant but fairly restrained aroma of sour fruit (tangerine in particular) and mild grassy funk. Nice.
T: Way more intense here, with heavy lactic and light acetic acidity. Sour citrus and cherry, dry earthy funk on the finish. Excellent.
M: Light-bodied and moderately carbonated. Nice and soft.
O: While I wish the aroma had packed as much punch as the flavor did, this was a really great sour - especially for the low ABV.

Not enough reviews of this beer. I first enjoyed this beer at the De Struise tap takeover at Churchkey in DC. I enjoyed it on draft that night (along with many others). I was driving home after a long day in NOVA but decided to stop to see Urbain and have a few brews. I was shocked to have such a flavorful beer at such a low ABV. But then again, I should never be shocked what Urbain and Carlo can produce.
Drinking a 750ml bottle tonite provide by my good friend Mitch from his travels to De Struise. I have been sitting on this for a few months, although it is a 2010 so I am sure my aging had little to do with the taste of the beer.
Cracking the bottle cap it was an immediate gusher, but I quickly poured into my glass. The nose was immediate funk. Stanky. But enjoyable.
The taste is very sour, getting the barrel as well. Carbonation is high. Quite enjoyable. It is not overly complex yet as it warms more flavors reveal themselves. To create a session sour ale with this depth is a true testament to the skill at De Struise.
This is the 2nd time enjoying this beer, not sure when the next time will be, but I cannot wait.
