From a 650 ml bottle into a pokal.
A-A normal pour produces very little head, just a thick cap of white foam. The head dies quickly, too. Lacing is minimal. The beer is crystal clear with a decent display of carbonation. It is very pale and yellowish in color. Not terribly inspiring.
S-Fortunately, things pick up on the smell. I get some dry grass, straw, cracker, a bit of cooked corn sweetness, and a healthy dose of spicy, lightly bitter hops. The aroma is crisp and medium dry...far less sweet than many Colorado examples of this style, which is nice.
T-The taste is also pretty decent with bready, cracker-like malts up front and grassy, spicy (peppery), earthy hops on the finish. The flavor is pretty clean and crisp with only a bit of bready sweetness.
M-The heft is light to medium with moderate carbonation. I could have used a bit more chunkiness in the carbonation, but as is, this beer was quenchable.
O-This was my first bottled beer from Durango Brewing (I have not seen them in Denver before today), and my first beer from them in probably ten years. Color me impressed. Unlike so many American Pilsners, this brew kept it on the dryer side of things and let the hops show without devolving into an IPA. It is not terribly attractive, but it tastes and drinks well.
