Things must have changed since previous reviews since I was MUCH more impressed with the selection at HMC than others have been--and it's not like I haven't been around the block a few times!
HMC is a co-op "grocery" store / farmers market, and what a place it is! Tons of fresh and local cheese, deli items, meats, breads and hand made food stuffs. The hot bar area is wonderful! We were more than able to stock up for an on the road lunch with the feature being locally made samosas from Samosaman in Montpelier.
In the HMC beer section I found Vermont microbreweries well-represented with Magic Hat, Long Trail, Wolaver, Otter Creek, McNeills, Rock Art and ocassional Lawson's Finest. In addition, notable New England breweries were offered with the star being 10 day old Peeper Ale from Maine Beer Company! Also, they carry a nice selection of (mainly European) imports with an emphasis on Belgian breweries.
Overall the HMC is a great stop if you are looking to fill your cupboard and fill your frig with some quality craft beers. Is it a "true" beer store, no, but, it does not claim be. This being said, even the most picky craft beer folks will find a few things of interest here.
If you are in the area I wholeheartedly suggest a stop at the HMC.

A health food store with a good beer selection. We stopped here hoping to pick up some Lawson's, but we should have known better. The selection otherwise was very solid, great international selections I had never seen before. Didn't check out the regular grocery store area that much, however I ordered a burrito that was very tasty. Clientele was varied, but with most being the dreadlocks/patchouli/Subaru crowd. Recommended stop, but if you're looking for the "prized" stuff, make sure to come at the right time.
