Pours a deeply brown nearly black almost clear brew with a tan head that disappears quickly.
Smell is lots and lots of darkly roasted malt. Strong coffee and sweet chocolate scent. Faint scent of rum in this too.
Taste is tangy at the start and not sweet at all. Dry flavor with lots of roasted malt flavor but it avoids the burnt taste it can give when used incorrectly. Fairly tart aftertaste and lots of coffee flavor.
Mouthfeel is OK much lighter than the color would suggest.
Drinkability is surprisingly good. This is a hard beer to place in a category I could see calling this beer a "Stout." Tastes like a dry stout but finishes refreshing like a summer beer. A different beer I can recommend.

Draft serving, thin off-white head, fair lacing, lovely medium brown color, crystal clear. Very little aroma--a hint of hops and malt. Flavor is underwhelming, hops, mild malt flavor, a bit of caramel, no fruity notes. Mouthfeel is a bit thin and foamy. Not a really pleasant ale to drink, mostly dissapointing. Just OK.

Pour had no head on a dark brown body.
The aroma was mild brown sugar. Fine but not much there.
The taste had a mild sweet malt balanced out with mild bitter.
Crisp with low to moderate carbonation.
It is a pretty mellow beer, which made it an easy drinker.
