A: dark golden, leaning just a tad toward copper with a hint of haze. A few bubbles rise to the medium size white head. Quite good retention & lacing.

S: Pale malt – both crackery & sweet with just hint of caramel. Soft vague hops. Hint of light esters. Rather shy nose – especially in the hop department.

T: Vaguely citrus & herbal hops. Good flavor with moderate bitterness. Crackery dry malts with just a touch of sweetness. Bit of diacetyl. Reasonable depth of flavor.

M: Medium body, average carbonation, a touch of texture & chew. Fairly neutral finish – just a hint of drying at the end. A solid enough, straight ahead feel.

D: Average, but well done pale ale. A touch British from the diacetyl. Won’t blow your hair back, but it is a quite fair drinking any day pale.

This beer is a clear pale golden-orange color, spotty lace. Malt, fruit and yeast aroma. Light-bodied with flavors of earthy malt, fruit and slight grassy hop. The finish is grainy malt and fruit.

12 oz brown bottle with label notched January 2011

Atwater Block Brewery Pale Ale poured a clear orange gold producing a 1-finger off-white head that had decent retention. Aroma and taste go hand-in-hand; dominated by floral hops, a little fruity, and enough malt to help balance the hops so they don’t “get-out-of-hand”. The finish is crisp and dry with a lingering moderate bitter aftertaste. Carbonation is to the lighter side.

Atwater Block Pale Ale is a drinkable average
American Pale Ale – worth a try if you enjoy the style.

I liked this better than the crowd seems to have - I found it a surprisingly serviceable Pale Ale.

Pours a rich golden amber with a nice tannish head. There is a light malty aroma with some flowery hops. The aroma, however, is strong and toasty, with an assertive flowery hop and a rich bready malt. There is a distinct kiss of honey. The mouthfeel is surprisingly dry with a sharp, citrusy bitterness deep around the tongue.

I picked up a mixed Atwater twelve pack and this beer was in it, never had it before so lets see how it goes. Poured from a 12oz brown bottle into a pint glass.

A- This beer pours a pale golden color with a fingers worth of white head that quickly faded to a very thing ring.

S- Sweet caramel malts stick out the most followed by some mild hops.

T- Just like the smell the malts are the first to show up followed by the hops that take on a more citrus flavor then they did in the aroma. The hops stand out the most in this brew but it isn't too bitter for a pale ale, overall the flavors are balance pretty well.

M- Medium bodied and under carbonated.

D- This beer is fairly drinkable, the alcohol is hidden well and the flavors are nicely balance, two or three of these wouldn't be a chore.

Overall I thought this was an average pale ale. Everything was pretty much on par for a pale ale but nothing about this beer overly impressed me. This beer doesn't stick out amongst the vast amounts of other pale ales that are available. An average pale ale but nothing to rave about.

A: translucent dark orange colored beer. No carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass. Egg shell white head that leaves a decent lacing on the glass.

S: bitter sweet

T: fruity with a bitter and clean after taste

M: thin body, low carbonation

D: easy to drink

overall: pretty good, a bit expensive, but i like to try michigan beers so i dont regret it.

Easily one of the worst beers I've ever tasted. From the first pour and smell it look like your run of the mill pale ale but the taste was just plain awful: Orange rinds and metal with an off balanced malty character. If I could give a negative taste and drinkability score, I would.

Pours a pale golden colour with a decent creamy head.

Smells fairly sweet, with some mild hops on the nose.

Hop bite, very crisp. Hops much more prevalent than in the smell. Some sweetness in the aftertaste. Much hoppier than a normal pale IMO. Not unwelcome.

Pretty solid for a 5% beer.

Very drinkable...it's a shame I had to drive to Michigan to get it.

Coppery orange with a smooth creamy eggshell cap that melts slowly leaving plenty of lace on the glass. The aroma reminds me of candied orange peel and untoasted barley. Plenty of bready malt sweetness and some bitterness in the finish but not a lot of hop flavor. Creamy bodied and a little less carbonation than I prefer. An okay beer but you can do a lot better for the money. I won't buy this again.

A: Pale orange color, slightly golden toned. Good foamy head that clings high to the glass. Decent carbonation.
S: Slightly sweet grain flavor on the tip of the nose, hint of citrus fruit and honey.
T: Bitter hops land with a thud, followed by touches of citrus and orange. Some might call it heavy-handed, others would say robust but there's no questioning that the hops stand out, in spite of what the nose led with.
M: Medium bodied, slight carbonation.
D: Very drinkable, just dull and brutish. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing when you're in the mood, but complexity is not this brew's strong suit.
