This is as "no frills" a label and beer generally that I've ever seen. It pours to a straw yellow with no head. Not much to it visually.
Smells slightly sweet and alluring.
Tastes slightly honey-sweet up front, but gets very bitter very quickly. Not terribly complex, but not bad. It took a few sips to get used to it.
More body than I anticipated, decent mouthfeel overall. Crisp, but a bit too much bite.
Overall, it is better than I anticipated, but not something I'd be likely to try again.

Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance – The beer is served a medium golden amber color with a one finger head of white foam atop. The head has a good level of retention, fading over a moderate time to leave a tiny bit of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the beer is quite heavy of a biscuit smell along with lots of toffee sweetness. Along with these smells are some lighter notes of a more light fruit nature with some pear and apricot mixed within. A little bit of a grassy smell is there as well creating a rather easy going aroma.
Taste – The taste begins as the nose suggested it would with a big biscuit malt taste along with some sweetness of a caramel nature. As the taste advances the caramel transitions more to a toffee like flavor picking up a more buttery taste as it moves on. Along with the toffee comes flavors of fruit of apricot and peach with a little bit of a grainy flavor coming to the tongue as well. With these flavors so too comes some grassy and lightly boozy tastes, which in the end leave a rather malty and big, lightly boozy flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thicker and chewier side with a carbonation level that is on the lower side. Both are rather nice for the big malty flavors of the brew making for a rather nice sipping maibock.
Overall – A decent maibock. Nothing too exceptional, but a nice go to when looking for something malty and chewy.
