12 oz. bottle poured into pint glass.
A: Nice dark brown body with ruby red highlights. Pours with a thin khaki colored head. Some thin lacing lines.
S: Bready malts as well as some caramel-like sweet hints. Surprisingly, no alcohol is detectable in the nose.
T: Pretty sweet. A nice caramel sweetness in the finish and some toasty/roasty bitterness up front from the grains. No hops present. Again, the alcohol is very well hidden. The only thing that ruins it here is the odd slightly astringent mouth-puckering astringency.
M/D: Great amount of carbonation that leaves a sort of bite. A very nice thick body, as it should be.
Overall, not bad at all. A very malty, thick and bready beer. Truly a meal in a glass.

Very faint aroma of bready, toffee sweetness. You really have to get your nose in there. Pours an impenetrable black, you can only see a little light when held right up to a bulb. No lace or head to speak of. Nice, if typical Dopplebock taste. Medium sweet followed by pleasant bitterness. Cool label.

Reviewed from notes
Appearance: mahogany to black. a finger of a tan head, leaves behind a slight lacing after slowly fading. Opaque.
Smell: large whiffs of chocolate, slight variation from lighter to darker chocolate. some breadiness and lager yeast sweetness
Taste: opens up with chocolate and does develop into much. some lager yeast.
Mouthfeel: no lager cleanness to it. fairly watery feel
Overall: an overly chocolate and most likely not well fermenated doppelbock. no cleanness and way too one sided.
Serving type: on-tap
