Near black pour, a few large bubbles, no lacing. Strange indeed. Scents of vanilla, chocolate, and coffee, as expected. Taste is unexpected for a porter, its rather light, lacking in body, though it has a pleasant vanilla and later coffee taste that lingers.

Appearance is a very thin tan head that quickly recedes. This stuff almost looks like Coca Cola in a glass. The color of the brew is a jet black. Smells of vanilla and coffee beans as you would expect. Nothing more to the smell other than that. It tastes literally EXACTLY like a Medium-Dark coffee would. Lots of java, Lot's of coffee flavor, With a hint of chocolate and a TON of vanilla. In fact, This beer is so delicious that I didn't even want to swallow it. I wanted that vanilla flavor to last forever. The mouthfeel is pretty thin, No other flavors come through other than the ones I have stated. Over all I was very impressed with this, I figured I'd end up giving the 6 pack away. And hell, I got these beers for free so it was an absolute steal. Though one thing I would like to mention is that my experience with this beer has been different with each bottle. This review was written after I had drank the best one in the six pack

A: Thin light tan head that is retained long after pouring. Rich dark color.
S: Very strong vanilla notes. Don't smell much of the java.
T: Java flavor upfront followed by vanilla. Somewhat chocolatey malt flavor.
M: Just the right amount of carbonation.
O: This is a very good beer with if you like the vanilla taste. It's something a bit different from the ordinary that is still refreshing on a warm day.

T: vanilla dominates here as well, though the roasted malts are a bit more present with faint coffee notes.
M: medium body with lowish carbonation, this beer is a bit watery.
O: an alright beer overall, though it lacks depth and is a bit watery.

[Best served in a Nonic Pint glass]
The pour was murky and almost black in color with a large (2-3 finger) light brown creamy head that had decent retention, reducing slowly to a thin cap with some good streaky lacing.
The aroma was a lot like french vanilla coffee with some roasted chocolate malts and a sweet yeast and had notes of dark chocolate, vanilla and dark roasted coffee.
The taste was lightly sweet and a bit bitter with hints of vanilla and dark chocolate from the onset with the finish having a more pronounced bitter coffee taste. The flavor hung around for an average duration after the swallow and had a mild bitter sweet coffee ending.
Mouthfeel was a few shades above medium in body and a tad oily in texture with a good strong carbonation.
Overall a Coffee Porter that has a lot more vanilla in the aroma than in the taste, but all in all it was a nice smooth tasty brew...

Served from a chilled bottle one month old from Busch's market in Rochester Hills, MI.
Nice light head upon opening, settling quickly to a thin veil over the top. Laced decently on the sides of the bottle. Very dark in color
Smells delicious. Fresh coffee overtones with subtle hints of vanilla and malt.
Coffe taste abounds, followed by caramel, vanilla, cocoa, and very mild graininess. Leaves a taste of high quality black coffee in the mouth.
Surprisingly light feeling in the mouth. Lighter than the average porter.
Overall, a nice sipping beer I would pick up again.
