12oz bottle poured into snifter on 03/23/2011.
This beer is amber and reddish brown with a creamy white head. It dissipates quickly and left little lacing. The nose is full of caramel, biscuit, honey, and earth. Teufel has a few hops present, and adds a bit of nuttiness. I also pick up some apple notes. Medium body and medium carbonation. Dry finish and some late alcohol warmth noted. This is a good beer, not great. Alcohol is subdued considering its 10.9% ABV.

Hopefully I'll like this offering more than most of the others form this brewery in the "D".Poured into a weizen glass a rich deep burnt orange infused amber with a sticky one finger off white head that settles nicely into a frothy mass leaving one big sheet of lace. Some green apple and bubble gum notes in the,not real assertive but not bad.A full rich feel to the beer adds to the drinkability, some dark fruit,banana/clove like yeasty notes, sweet alcohol, and caramel toffee on the palate. The best beer from AB to date for me,it's big but still quite drinkable, nice job here.

Right from the start, I really didnt know what style of beer this was going to be. I could not find anything on the label.
It pours a fairly dark brew with , for me a total absence of any head.
The nose was a bit on the alcohol side, perhaps age in a bourbon cask. There seemed to be a good amount of malt here., but beyond that, I did not pick up anything else
The taste was big, but did not hold up to what I thought it was going to be. It was smoother and easier drinking. The malt hung onto my tounge and throat long after I finished this beer.
I was totally shocked, when I found out that this was a bock beer. This is something I need to educate myself on. The differences between a barley wine and a bock beer.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a tulip glass.
Appearance: A hard pour gave a very thin khaki colored head. Dark brown almost black body. Very light carbonation. Once the head subsides it looks like a cola.
Smell: Lots of very sweet dark fruits. Prunes, raisins, and molasses. It definitely smells like a big dark beer.
Taste: Big sweet dark fruits upfront. Bready, wheat, and nutty. Moderate bitterness helps to round out the sweetness.
Drinkability: Very drinkable for the high ABV.

Color: pours light golden brown. sits a translucent dark amber
Smell: powerful melanoidins and bready malt followed by strong notes of dark fruit all sitting on a good wheat foundation.
Taste: rich combination of melanoidins, dark fruit, vanilla, wheat flavor and a hint of chocolate. very low hop bitterness. finish is slightly sweet and bready with a hint of alcohol which doesnt linger
Mouthfeel: full-medium body with medium carbonation. very rich and creamy
Notes: very delicious beer. complex and rich in flavor with a decent amount of alcohol to boot. great beer for a cool evening

A. Deep copper, but fairly see-through. Lots of little bubbles throughout. Very mild tan head and lace. Dissipates quickly.
S. Very strong malt scent. Some nut. And kind of a cotton candy scent.
T. It has a nutty taste to it. Quite malty. An undertone of dark fruit flavor. It has a sweet watermelon aftertaste. It has a mild bread toast kind of taste.
M. Very smooth, but with a tingle of carbonation. Refreshing.
O. Flavorful and smooth, a bit too sweet but that is just knitpicking.

Poured into a New Belgium globe. Pours a deep amber with a light tan head of about two fingers that is slow to drop. Some lacing evident.
Aromas sweet, card candy, caramel malt. No hop aroma.
Flavors of grainy malt, wheat, alcohol bite. No hop flavors. Apples and pears.
Mouthfeel is medium/light. Alcohol warmth.
Overall a nice weizenbock. Not a lot of complexity in the glass. Very warming. Nothing offensive, just not much there to make it stand out.

On draught at HopCat, into a weizen glass.
Copper brown in colour, with an offwhite head. Some lacing and only a little retention. Nose has some dark malts, grains and a light caramel sweetness. Perhaps only a bit of banana. Flavour has wheat, sweet dark malts notes, caramel and a bit of banana and bread. Medium body and medium high carbonation. Decent flavour but not something that stands out to me.
