Met up with some friends for a mini reunion. Was pleasantly surprised by the tap list. Goose Island, Founders, Stone, Victory, Dogfish head and Coney Island.
Decent food, I had surf and turf. probably the best spot in babylon for craft beers! And if you're with a wine savvy friend, Barrique is just across the way.

I've been here a few times, but stopped in last night with family.

A - Saturday nights have a mix of bar scene, families, and couples. Not bad at all, but not an iconic beer crowd either.

Q - 18 taps of craft beer. Plenty of good choices.

Serv - The 2 bers I had were poured with proper foam, in the right glassware. Waitress knew about what was on tap.

Selection - I had Brookyln Maple Porter and Spider Bite Wee Heavy. There were plenty of good local beers, and some limited releases.

F - The food here is incredible. You actually come here for the food. I've enjoyed every meal I've had here.

V - It's Babylon Village prices, which are a bit high for the area. But you know that aheadof time, and dinner for 3 with beer and appetizer was $50 each. That's fair IMO.

I'll be back more knowing what they have here.

Went for dinner and drinks. The food was respectable but certainly not amazing (My girlfriends tuna was poorly prepared). The beer menu seemed respectable (not great or even that interesting, but respectable)... until of course we tried to order and 3 out of the 4 beers ordered they were out of. Also, the best description we got from the waitress was, "Um its like a dark beer". We ordered bottle of Piraat for the table and it was stored so cold the bottle had frost on it, then the waitress opens the bottle and its a gusher... when we sent it back she seemed almost surprised. Although she said she'd be coming back with a new bottle the bottle she came back with was already opened and wrapped in a towel.... hmmm not fooling anyone, but we weren't about to make a scene so we took it, definitely not the best bottle of Piraat I've ever had. All in all not a place I have any intention of going back to.

I had dinner out in Babylon last weekend, and was attracted to this place for an after dinner drink by the Blue Point sign hanging from the awning. This is a very relaxed and comfortable place to go to and drink; there are even couches and leather chairs set up, coffee house style. The bar is long, and the bartenders were very friendly and knowledgeable about their beer.

And, their beer selection was pretty impressive. They had three sets of five taps (for 15 in all), and several beers I had never tried (or some even heard of, like Australia's Wattle Seed ale) before, which is always a good thing. they even use nonick pint glasses.

The dining area is past the bar area, but since we just ate, I didn't try any of the food. Overall this seems like a great place to just hang out and have a beer, and certainly a place I will revisit when I'm in the area again.

If you've ever gone out in Babylon village, you're probably aware of the area's vibrant nightlife and plethora of restaurants/bars. You're probably also aware that the area is mostly devoid of good beer selections. Horace & Sylvia's however, offers some reprieve in this otherwise fun town. Located on Deer Park Ave., just north of Kotobuki and the Argyle Tavern, you'll recognize the attractive green wood paneled exterior and there is a Blue Point sign hanging near the door. When you walk in the tables and dining area is along the right side and back. A comfy lounge area with couches, chairs, and a fireplace is on your immediate left. Nice long granite bar is on the left side. Several TVs including a big plasma at the right side of the bar. Good lighting in here. 18 taps on 3 stations that included 3 Blue Points (Toasted Lager, Winter Ale, Blueberry Ale), Stone IPA, Beamish Stout, Weltenburger Doppelbock, Bitburger Pilsener, Sixpoint Sweet Action, Franziskaner, Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, 2 SA's (Boston Lager, Winter Lager), John Courage, Dinkel Acker, Blue Moon, JW Dundees Honey Brown, Newcastle, among others that change frequently. I like places that rotate a lot of taps, it keeps things interesting while keeping around the favorites as a mainstay. Bottle selection displayed on shelf over bar, maybe a dozen or more, it's hard to see but included a lot of German imports like Franziskaner, Warsteiner, etc, as well as some British and Czech. The head-bartender and assistant manager's name is John. He's a homebrewer, a really cool guy, and he knows his beer. Food here is quite good and the bar menu is awesome. The crowd here varies greatly depending on the time of year and time of night, could be a bunch of 40-somethings swigging macro bottles or younger hipsters quaffing pints, but overall people are friendly here and it's a cool place to come with a group. Great prices during happy hour too. Make sure you stop next time youre in Babylon.
