Had from a 22oz bottle. Pours a dark brown with a tan head. For the nose it has a sweet, roasted malt smell, not much alcohol on the nose. It has a nice roasted malt taste, it is pretty dry. The roasted malt doesn't hang around long but the dryness part does linger. Overall if you are looking for a basic stout that isn't bad, this is definitely a good one to go with.

22oz bottle $3.99. For some reason I've never picked this up before but it was snowy and I was in Golden, price was right too. Standard black appearance. Aroma was sort of malty, oats, not bad. Flavor was roast malts, oats, also not bad. Would I buy it again? Hard to say but it was definitely worth the $4.

Excellent Stout, if given an letter grade for its overall performance I'd give it an A-. During the day that we were sampling Golden City Beers this one stood out as their best and most memorable beer. It has a great dark appearance, and once our head died down we only had a half sampler left, but you can imagine how great that head is on a pint. The malted goodness was abundant, with a great coffee kick that just happened to be at about the perfect level of intensity.

22oz into a pint
A - Pours dark black, thick - light amount of amber hues. Light mocha head formation, little lacing.
S - Tones of chocolate and oatmeal, a little bit grainy. Hopping is nowhere to be found. Roasted scents are also hard to find.
T - Starts off with little fanfare, just a little bit of roasted malts - very subdued. Mid-stream gets a little more chocolate, more oats and husky flavors. Finishes with just a hint of sweetness. Aftertaste is clean.
M - Has a somewhat thin body to it. Carbonation is also relatively light. Only a light amount of sugary cling on the tongue.
O/D - A somewhat unremarkable stout. Its just okay in about every way. Not very filling, not over the top on alcohol - just straightforward.

22 oz bottle was poured into a tulip glass.
Appearance: The beer poured a two finger head that has reduced into a thin layer and left some lacing on the glass. Pitch black
Smell: roasted coffee, mocha, sweet malts, sweetness and bready notes from the oatmeal, and vanilla.
Taste: Lots of the flavors blended above with a bit of asah and smoke included. Very subtle, but delicious.
Muthfeel: medium carbonation, smooth, light to medium bodied, watery, and easy to drink. Should be more full bodied, but it still works.
Overall: Very happy that we were able to stumble across this brewery back in December. The brewery and their beers were a hit for us and next time in CO, we will drive up to Golden to visit the second largest brewery and not the first.

Poured in to a pint glass. Poured a thin looking, pitch black body. 1/2 finger, tan head taht faded fast to a light ring.
Aroma had some light milkyness. Notes of chocolate, coffee and roasted malts. Light sweetness, mild maltiness and some bitter hop aroma.
Taste had some light vanilla and grainy, oatmeal flavor. Lots of chocolate and roast flavor. Somewhat earthy, bitter finish. Mild sweetness. No signs of ABV. Light toffee with a touch of raisin.
Mouthfeel has medium body, medium carb and somewhat dry finish. Hoped for a more creamy mouthfeel.
Drinkability was very good. Good flavor and nothing overpowering. Could easily drink a few of these.

Great looks and smell but doesn't deliver. Black with lace already cascading down the glass. The roast smell is perfect. The taste is OK, sugary sweet and coffee. Thin mouthfeel, so this needs more oats.
