Another late night joint in Downtown Fullerton, Roscoes Deli is unique in the late hours if you're looking for a quieter, more intimate place to have a drink. I assume it's bustling during lunch hours, but I stepped inside here with my friend just after midnight to find a more laid back atmosphere, merely several customers on the bar, with sports highlights on the television. My friend got a mixed drink while I ordered a beer on draft.
The draft menu features some of the big name beers along with the big name craft brews (Sam Adams, Sierra Nevada, Fat Tire). Specialty brews on draft included Stone IPA and Red Trolley, while specialty bottled brews I spotted were Arrogant Bastard and AleSmith X. But overall, the beer selection isn't much to shout about. I ended up sampling Sam Adams Summer Ale from draft. Sadly, it was poured into a plastic cup where I was expecting a glass. At least it was poured nicely. It ended up costing me $6, where as the bombers of ABA and X went for $8. Take a dollar off my draft and I'll be inclined to give it a better value.
I got no idea about the food quality, as I didn't sample anything. It might be a good place for lunch if you want a sandwhich and a good beer. If you want peace and quiet in your Saturday night, this is a good spot to hit up. If you just want to drink beer all night, other establishments can be found with better beer selections.
