25cl bottle with "Gouden Carolus D'or" painted in yellow paint on the bottle. I was told by the person I received this from that it is from the '70s but based on the condition of the bottle I wouldn't be surprised if it was from the '90s instead (design was used in both eras). All in all this bottle should be at least 20 years old, maybe up to 40.

A- Cap is a challenge to take off, literally bent the cap opener that I've used on all other bottles. When it does come off there is pretty much no hiss and the beer pours fairly flat with just a few bubbles. Bottom of cap is almost completely black. Beer appears almost completely still in glass and is a translucent dark brown with a reddish, gold hue to it. Despite the flatness the beer looks beautiful.

S- The second the cap is partially opened I can get a glimpse of a nice rich smell that reassures me after the lack of hiss and carbonation. After being opened the aroma dies down but the original presence of molasses, figs, raisins, port, slight cherries, and slight cardboard from oxidation. The oxidation actually meshes nicely with the beer and overall the beer is fairly aromatic and very pleasant for its age.

T- Opens up with figs, molasses, hints of port, a tiny bit of caramel, and just a hint of cherries lingering in the background. Finishes with more figs, some more caramel, and some watery cardboard due to the oxidation. Overall I was surprised by how well this beer had held up. It was fairly flavorful, the oxidation was definitely present but that's too be expected at this age and it didn't really detract anything from the beer.

M- Medium bodied, very smooth, slightly watery on the finish, completely flat but I don't completely mind it.

O- The cap and bottle on this beer claim this beer could age for a lifetime, after opening e bottle up after at least 20 years after it had been bottled I can definitely say that is probably true. The beer definitely showed its age but still remained a tasty treat that I thourghly enjoyed trying and would definitely try again if I ever get the chance.

Smell of fresh barley, hay, honeycomb wax. Copper, red, dark orange, foam dense and persistent. First taste tobacco, chocolate, coffee, malt. Resembles top quality rose wines and finest single malt whiskeys. Only minus is to much sweet and caramel. Strong, tasty looking for heavy food, or it can serve as glass before sleep.

330 ml bottle poured into a chalice.

A- Deep hazed brown body. Creamy light tan head. Nice rings of lacing and very leggy.

S- Molasses, caramel, some sweet bread. Super malty aroma.

T- Sweet but not as overbearing as the aroma suggested. Malt and molasses. Slight fruit character comes out.

M- Creamy, full body. Very subtle, fine carbonation. And a clean wet finish.

O- Yum. The malty notes in this are fantastic. Molasses caramel, and the depth of this beer is great. Temp change brings more intense flavors out. Very nice.

Brown reddish color with a thick two finger beige head with good retention and leaving lots of laces.
Nice aroma with notes of raisins, spices, candied sugar, licorice, prunes, apple puree and grapes.
Delicious flavor with spiced notes, candied sugar, plums, figs, cocoa, red wine and vanilla. Quite dry aftertaste with a mild bitterness.
Velvet full body with appropriate carbonation. Alcohol of 8.5% abv is very well hidden.
Excellent beer combining rich spices and fruits notes. Sweetness that does not bother. Very easy to drink, I remember to taste it while I was adventuring in the world of craft beer, and still tastes great.

Poured a dark brown body with one finger head that never really goes away thanks to a lace ring. Aroma has dark fruits everywhere with figs, raisins, black cherries, and there is also a sugary sweetness in the aroma like toffee or candi sugar. Very smooth, creamy, sweetness from caramel, toffee, candi sugar, the smoothness is from a good yeast presence, creaminess from great balance with dark fruit flavors like black cherry and raisins (not going to say plums) and finishes oh so easy. Maybe too sweet for some but hit the spot for me.
