Poured from a 750ml bottle into red wine glass.

A - Medium golden with a slight haze. Huge 4+ fingers of white, creamy head rise. Great retention; large gobs of foam are present long after the pour. Extraordinary amounts of lace.

S - A tough aroma to pick apart. Hopsinjoor releases its bouquet in one orgiastic burst with a multitude of smells all coming forth at once. Floral and leafy hops go head to head with sour apples, a hint of vinegar, vanilla, medicinal aromas, grain, and savory spices in the realm of garlic and coriander with just a bit of fresh cut grass thrown in. All this is in no particular order, it's just sort of seamlessly wound together.

T - It tastes exactly like what you'd expect, a sort of APA version of a BSPA. That's not to say it's bad, but while the aroma had a sort of synergy about it, the taste is cut and dry. Hops, meet BSPA. Hops take stage early palate with floral tastes atop a base of bitter tea and herbs. As the leafy flavors wind down, imagine chewing up an aspirin with some sort of sweetish coating. The main flavor is loaded with bitter, chalky phenols but there are vague accents of apple, vanilla, and a bit of white bread. Mild sweetness accompanies these mid palate flavors until a bitter onslaught lasting until the finish. Lemon peel, bits of vinegar, and the full force of phenols wrap things up with a lasting chalky and herbal bitterness.

M - On the light side of medium bodied with medium-high carbonation. Nothing positive or negative stands out.

D - Overall Hopsinjoor was an enjoyable beer and certainly an interesting experience. However, 750ml is a bit much in a sitting, and I found myself growing weary of the big medicinal notes coupled with moderate bitterness after a couple of glasses. Given my limited experience with Belgian IPAs, this is probably the best I've had so far.

33cl bottle (19/9/2015) into a goblet. Slightly hazy pale golden yellow with one finger white head that left a thin foam after settling down. Smell has malts and hops with a hint of apples. Crisp moderately sweet malty taste with a dry hop aftertaste with a note of grapefruit. Fruitier when colder and more hoppy as it warmed up. Very nicely balanced. Warms the tongue a bit but no apparent alcohol taste. Medium body and high carbonation. Very drinkable.

Poured from a 750 mL corked & caged bottle into a Brewer's Art goblet. Moderately gentle hand. No identifiable date.

A: Cloudy, golden yellow. 1.5 fingers of mostly white head with good retention. Gets a bit rocky. Great lacing. Fine looking brew for sure.

S: Belgian yeast with a mild, musty funkiness. Fruit-forward with notes of apple, banana and pear. Lighter peach, lemon and orange.

T: Spice notes and fruit elements lead into a rather tasty, moderate noble hop bitterness. Nicely balanced with a fairly dry finish. Minimal alcohol. The hops ramp up their presence as it warms and it turns slightly herbal.

M: High carbonation that is a bit prickly early on, but gives a nice champagne feel once you are accustomed. Moderate body. Smooths out nicely in the end.

O: Very nice Belgian pale with some classic noble hop flavors. This beer underwent a cool transformation as I worked through the bottle: Straight out of the fridge it was pretty fruity and spicy with relatively tame hops. As it warmed the fruit notes faded and the hop notes really blossomed. Good stuff.

Prost!

A:
Pours a hazy whiteish golden yellow (looks like lemonade as it leaves the bottle neck) with an intense white head that actually grows as the glass sits idle, making quick chomps at the foam necessary to prevent overflow. Never gets below a rocky two fingers reminiscent of meringue. Retention so good it is almost too much until it settles down; big, stringy lacing. Inspires awe.

S:
Sweet and slightly herbal. Nice round malt-forward smell. At least to my nose the hops aren't super present. Rich sweet yeasty esters, white pepper, touch of dark fruits.

T:
Really well-balanced and well-done. Hay, grass, green apple skin, yeasty esters, tea, and a lingering herbal aftertaste. Very 'together'.

M:
Warm and refreshing with a medium body, strong prickly carbonation and a clean finish.

O:
Excellent beer.
I don't think that this is my favorite Belgian IPA but it is definitely subtle enough to be more drinkable than ones like Houblon Chouffe. Also, although Goudeh Carolus beers may not be the best in some areas, they are some of the most consistently good-looking beers I have ever seen. Could be a little more in-your-face in some areas, but like I say its timidity is part of its charm for me.
Would have again; worth trying if you ever come across it.
