750ml brown bomber poured into a Chimay goblet. Bottle born on date is presented as a year on the neck label and in the story of how it is brewed every year on February 24th on the birthday of Charles V.
A: Pours a beautiful crimson brown which glows on the edges. Capped by an off-white thick head that sticks to the glass and looks like it would require chewing.
S: Delicious. Red delicious apples, brown sugar, caramel, raspberries, and a firm but not overpowering alcohol backbone.
T/M: Big beer! A decadent mix of caramel, chocolate covered berries, oak soaked in dark rum, overripe cherries, and a touch of spice. Just a perfectly balanced beer with hint a hops. The body has a creamy texture that is cut nicely by the higher alcohol volume. Carbonation is moderate.
Like a fine port this seems like it would get better with age. Go slow with this one and savor every last drop.
