Pours a copper tinted, light brown, surprisingly clear, big fluffy off-white head from hand pump. Scent brings strong notes of rye and spice, bready malts, nutty, light caramel some grassy, earthy hops. Taste smacks the palate with rye flavor, nice bready and nutty malts, grassy hops and firm spice. Thinner than expected medium body, lacking creaminess from cask pour. Good beer... While the rye is bold, the other components don't quite stand up or blend as well as they could.

On tap at the brewpub in Philadelphia. Pours a cloudy light brown with a thick light tan head. Aroma of sweet malt, faint rye seed. Flavor is incredibly rye with a nice rye finish. Wow, it really is like drinking a loaf of rye bread. Some sweet apple in the flavor too. Light bodied but excellent. This is the best rye beer I've had to date!

On tap at Triumph Philadelphia on 12/30/08.

A - Hazy deep amber/copper-colored body with one-finger frothy off-white head that receded to a thin ring of retention and left decorative lacing around the glass.

S - Aroma is bready, crusty seedy and grainy with a toasted character, akin to a fresh loaf of rye bread. Hop presence is faint, but the addition of the rye seeds adds a touch of earthiness to the mix.

T - Malt-forward brew with lots of bready, crusty and grainy characteristics and a dry rye aspect, courtesy of the seeds. There is also a touch of licorice and citrus in the backend. Finishes with a distinctive rye bread flavor - almost like pumpernickel - with a slight earthy bitterness.

M - Medium body with a fairly light, watery texture. Finish is quite dry and mildly bitter on the palate.

D - I found this to be quite a unique take on a rye beer. This was certainly unlike anything I've ever had in the past. While I would have liked a bit more hops, this still proved to be fairly bitter due to the addition of the rye seeds.

On-Tap at the brewpub,

Jewish Rye is somewhere between copper and brown with a nice frothy white head, it stayed around a while and faded into a cap. Light white foam on the glass thats bubbly. Aroma is str8 rye bread and light toasted malts with a dash of earthy hops. The taste is strong with rye bread and light malts with some grain in the back. Im guessing this is fresh as some hops come up becoming earthy. Feel is smooth and medium with some light carb with a slightly spicy finish. The light alcohol makes this a repeat visitor.

A-Hazy deep copper with a medium off-white head that reduced to a thing ring and left decent lace.

S-Wow! Just like a loaf of rye bread. Simply amazing and a treat to inhale.

T-Lots of rich malt up front with a bit of citrus and caraway zing backing. Becomes earthy in the finish.

M-Medium body and a bit thin feeling. Would expect something with so much "bready" feeling for it tobe a bit more "meaty" Finishes quite dry with a decent lingering bitterness.

D-A most interesting and enjoyable brew. Unlike any rye beer I have ever had before. The addition of the caraway seeds is very innovative. I liked this brew quite a bit....Give me back that rye beer you old bag!!!

From 08/04/12 notes. On cask at the Philly brewpub on Chestnut Street; served in a pint glass.

a - Pours a deep brown amber color with one finger of off white head and moderate carbonation evident. Surprised by the head and carbonation levels.

s - Smells of roasted malts, rye, caramel malts, bready malts, toasted malts, nuts, toffee, and light citrus hops. Lots of malts, and the rye coems through; very nice mix in the nose.

t - Tastes of roasted malts, caramel malts, rye, toffee, toasted malts, bready malts, wheat, grain, and burnt malts. More caramel in the taste than the nose.

m - Medium body and low to moderate carbonation. Body is super smooth and creamy, and VERY easy to drink. This body is perfect on cask and drinks amazingly.

o - Overall I thought this was a very good beer; it is probably the best beer I've had from Triumph in 3 trips there (though their saison is up there too). The rye in prevelant in the nose and taste, but doesn't dominate, and having this on cask is the way to go. Would love to have it again.

I had this on-tap at Triumph Brewing Company in Philadelphia, Pa. It was served in a pint glass.
Appearance: The body is an opaque brown color. The head is two fingers tall, light tan, great retention and lots of sticky lacing.
Smell: The aroma is very spargy.
Taste: The flavor is very sweet with major notes of seeded rye bread.
Mouthfeel: This is a very smooth beer.
Drinkability: This is a very drinkable beer.
Don't drink and review.

This beer came a murky orange amber that was quite foggy. The head was a lively film that left a little lace as I went.

Smells of rye crisps and more rye crisps. This is wonderful! There's a slight honey orange sweetness in the background, but the natural and organic elements of the rye are shocking.

The tastes starts with a dry bread crust bite, subdued with a hint of lemon rind and thin caramel. This sharpens up with a wonderful rye finish. Reminds me of eating rye bread crusts.

Feels a little distant with a fine, raspy carbonation. I wish this was a little more present so I didn't have to search for the flavors.

Wow, this is the best rye beer I've tried. Next time, I'll pair it with a Reuben!

I had this beer in the Philadelphia location, and now that I have moved away I miss it greatly. This is an outstanding beer. It has a great aroma, very nice mouth (actually tastes like a fresh loaf of amazing rye bread) and is incredibly drinkable. Hats off to Triumph Patrick for a beautiful brew.
