Bottle: Poured a hazy pale yellow color ale with a rather large foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma consists of wheat malt with nice citrus hoppy notes with some light floral undertones. Taste is also dominated by quite a bit of great malt with some hoppy citrus undertones. Body is quite full with good carbonation. Very refreshing beer with nice balance between malt notes with hoppy citrus notes.

Hazed golden orange colour, 1.5 fingers of white head and lots of lace. Smell is a mix of fruity and grassy hops, lemon, leafy cut grass, orange and grapefruit all punctuated with a tangy belgian yeast. Taste is dry and hoppy with a long lingering bitterness, hops are mainly earthy with a light fruity flavour on the back end, yeasty aftertaste. Medium high carbonation, medium bodied and dry. This is quite enjoyable especially at such a low price point, something I could easily revisit at any time.

Purchased at the LCBO for just the $6.00 mark or so for a 750ml bottle. Served at 8deg C in a tulip.

A- Opens well and pours a 1" high white head that films out within two minutes or so. Medium gold colour and filtered clear

S- Good hops here. Some wheat goodness

T- Rather light and a mix between wheat, IPA and Belgium goodness. Very complex and warm

M- Dry and tart

O- Very good brew overall. Nice blend that is worth having but it is a bit confused if anything

Food Pairing

This nice little brew went well with...... Egg salad with radishes and green onion

Enjoy

A very mildly flavored beer that improved as it warmed revealing some yeast and wheat character. Hops are more bitter than flavorful which is unfortunate.

Try as they might, Brasseurs R.J. fails on all fronts. Drinkable, sure, but this brew is too sour and carbonated to be considered a good representation of a Belgian IPA. Search elsewhere.

L: Cloudy blonde color. Big bubbles. Some lacing and a fair bit of head.

S: Some grapefruit, peppery yeast esters, and malty sweetness. Very nice smelling and complex.

T: Hops come forward. I get some grapefruit, citrus, sweet orange, and maybe just a hint of some pineapple. The citrus plays nicely with some clove phenols. Slightly spicy. Doughy and malty sweet. Bitterness is firm yet not overbearing for the style.

F: Crisp and refeshing. The carbonation cleanses the palate and prepares you for another drink.

O: This was a pretty nice quaff overall. It's also a style I feel I can't find enough of. Very drinkable; would buy again.

This is a really all around great beer. You can't beat it for the price that's forsure. But it has a good pale malt, Belgian yeast flavour with an excellent hop profile making for a great citrusy, fruity bitterness. I always keep these handy to share with guests. Goes excellent with barbecue!
