pours a medium gold in color no head or lace at all. smells of fresh grass with faint floral notes and slight fruity sweetness. taste of fresh grain, grass and some hops. mouthfeel light carbonation ok but a little more would have helped. fresh and light easy to drink would buy again.

Pours a nice shimmering light golden topped with a blooming, fluffy head that sticks to the glass as it settles, very fruit scented of some green apple mainly with a touch of iron very pleasant.Very delicate flavors some of that green apple along with lightly toasted grain and iron.Very food-friendly went well with some fresh bratwurst and weiss wurst with some my mother- in- laws potato pancakes, infinently drinkable.

Appearance – Light yellow in color with a little bit of carbonation with a big, frothing head.

Smell – Very light hoppy aroma that’s a bit musty but pleasing to the nose.

Taste – The deep hop flavor comes out well at the taste. It’s more of the traditional floral type with just a very hint of sweetness.

Mouthfeel – The light carbonation dances effortlessly on the tongue. This one is light-bodied and very dry.

Drinkability – This was a wonderful interpretation of the style.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12 oz bottle into a tall stange glass. The neck label has a brief description and there is an abv (4.8%) but no freshness date.

Appearance: The body has a bright light yellow color with great clarity. The pour produced a tall soapy white head. This fluffy light head fades quickly leaving just a thin ring of bubbles to hug the edge of the glass. Lacing is minimal and spotty.

Smell: The aroma is light overall and there is delicate bready malt with a decent amount of floral and botanical hop notes. It also has a hint of sulfur to it as well.

Taste/Palate: Its light body has a delicate bready maltiness with a slight fruity quality to it. The hops are in prefect light balance. They add a similar floral/botanical spice and bitterness as detected in the aroma. It finishes clean and crisp.

Notes: Its delicate flavor and light texture and body make it an easy hot weather drinker. It was ok in the bottle but I would bet that it is much better fresh on tap in Germany!!!

Pours a clear, pale yellow body topped by a two centimeter snowwhite head. Good retention and quite a bit of spotty lace.

Aroma is spicy and noble hops, with a note of dried hay. Toasty and biscuity malt in the background.

Mouthfeel is light bodied and well carbonated.

Taste has a toasty and grainy malt presence that manages to be both biscuity and bready. Spicy and grassy hops provide a nice hops bitterness to balance. Crisp and refreshing.

An understated style that is very appropriate for warm weather. Refreshing and easy to drink, a classic example of the style.

After sampling a few North American kolsch-like brews, this was my first experience with the real thing!

Poured into a tall lager glass, the closest kolsch equivalent I had in the house. Light golden, visible carbonation, decent head and retention. Halfway through and still some head kicking abouts.

Light malts, hops, apple and a bit of butter for the nose.

Smooth, crisp, similar to a pilsner, but I'm really detecting the difference here. Slightly buttery and malty. Long, slightly bitter and citrussy finish. Quite refreshing!

Higher carbonation, medium body for the style.

Really hit the spot on a hot, humid day. Definitely a style that I will revisit throughout the summer. Great stuff.

Unique taste, dry malt flavored beer with a bitter hop finish. I really enjoyed this beer because it is really refreshing, and light, perfect for summer. This is a beer I'm sure Pilsner lovers would like.

Gaffel Kolsch is straw yellow in color, a nice golden body, backed by a nice fluffy head, with good carbonation.

Overall, I really enjoyed this beer. This is a really good style of beer which originated and only produced from Cologne Germany, however this is a style that I've seen growing in popularity. Such as Harpoon's Summer Seasonal, which is based off of the Kolsch style. Good Stuff...

Appears a pale yellow hue with a slight haze overcasting the brilliant golden color large white head with fine even lacing formed after each sip. Aroma contains strong herbal German noble hops with a mild fruity malt flow going on, slightly metallic with some harder water used in brewing. Flavor is a crisp combo of lightly toasted malts and herbal lemongrass tinted hops. Mouthfeel is light bodied with a dry finish, moderate carbonation level really gets across the palate well. Overall drinkability this would get boring if it were your only beer option but it's a nice mix up from the typical American micro brew.

On tap at the 2014 German Bierfest (Atlanta).
Clear light amber with a decent head.
Light body with a near medium carbonation.
Grassy hops with faint light malts. Lacks complexity and interest.
Lingering grassy hop aftertaste.
Hoppy for style yet uninteresting.

I purchased this beer with higher expectations, possibly because it's "imported German beer brewed under the purity law of 1516", which is similar to the location/standard that Weihenstephaner originates from (although the latter is a completely different style).

A - Pale. Little/no head.

S - Can't really pick anything up. Very very bland....

T - Very bland... regular... NOT special, or flavorful. Aftertaste is bready if you wait about 30sec after a nice sip.

M - Smooth. Easy to drink. Nice for summer/spring weather if you just wanna cool down, or drink something other than water.

O - I can't take a complete dump on this beer simple because it's better than macro's, and it doesn't taste BAD like some failed micros. On the other hand, it has lots of room for improvement. It's not very flavorful, nor does it stand out in any way. A positive way to think about it would be in comparing it with plain ol' unsalted butter. It's got no taste, but when combined with something flavorful (like BBQ, steak, etc) it can go well without stealing from the flavorful components of the combination.

I won't be buying this again, simply because I've got too many other excellent options to spend my hard earned money on.

Lovers of bland tastelessness, look no further.

Another fantastic kolsch. Very nice malty/hop character, light gold colour, little lasring head, floral hop pressence, quite dryish and huuuuugely great to have as session beer.
