I enjoy this place for a variety of reasons.
It's got a friendly neighborhood vibe to it. Lots of regulars. It's a "Cheers" sort of place. Nice place to grab a brew after work. It's a family establishment, though, not a late night drinking spot.
They've got a pretty good bottle selection. They don't have a whole lot of taps (maybe 12-15 ? give or take), but they rotate them often, and always have a good seasonal choice or two.
Friendly staff that will know you by name after a couple of visits. Most of the staff members are pretty knowledgeable about beer.
The price is right. I've gotten beers for 4.50 to 5.00 here that are 7 bucks plus at the chain restaurant, Taco Mac, right up the street.
The food is just okay, for me. The highlights: The fries are good, burgers are solid, club sandwich is solid, and the new brisket sandwich is a good choice.
A regular spot for me.

Went here for lunch on a random weekday.
Atmosphere is interesting - it's very much like a dive but the clientele aren't quite those you're likely to see in a dive. It's not the cleanest place, but then again it's not the dirtiest place. Booths and tables line the front of the building with the bar in the back corner with plenty of stools lining everything. No TV's.
Quality is good. I ordered a Hefe and it was served in the proper, non-logo'd, room temperature glass with the appropriate amount of head.
Service was good. I didn't have to wait long at all to place my order and everything came out promptly. The bartender was also quick to point out that the beer on the menu was just the standard selection, they have a rotating tap list full of others on a separate page - good to know.
Selection is good but not great. Again, the website and main menu are nothing stellar to say the least, but the rotating taps have a few gems.
Food was good. I had potato soup with a sausage sandwich, and for the price it was pretty good.
Value is good. This is probably the closest I'll come to giving one dollar sign, but it's still not that cheap. On the lower side of $$.
Overall this is a decent place that's definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.

An ok little bar in North Decatur. It's kind of a townie bar, with ok food, ok service, and ok prices. Pretty ok all around. It's a little dark and dingy. I'm not sure if their selection has gone down since previous reviews or if I somehow missed a bottle menu or something, but I wasn't particularly impressed with the selection. A lot of BMC and slightly better stuff (Harp and the likes), but an offering or two from Sweetwater and Terrapin were about the best/only micros on tap at the time. Not exactly a beer destination, but not a bad place.

This was actually my first stop when I hit Decatur as I was coming from that direction and wanted to stop by and get a good picture to update beer fly. Walked inside and it seemed like your fairly typical bar. Nice long bar right in front with about a dozen taps I would guess. Menu looked pretty good food wise and the staff was busy scurrying around. Did not have time to hang out as I was already late getting to the Brick Store, but this seemed like a nice place if I were local. Will have to stop in and get something to eat next time I am in town, but this definitely seemed like a nice enough place.

Melton's is a great place, and it seems to be forgotten sometimes. I used to go every Friday for lunch at my old job and always enjoyed it.
Beer selection is pretty good, and they usually have decent stuff on tap. The food is good as well. Lots of appetizers and things of that variety. The staff have always been friendly and attentive.
On Thursday nights they used to have 50% off all the appetizers, and I went quite a bit as well when this was the case. I'm a bit busy with school now, but last time I went they had changed the special to 25% off. Either way, still a good deal. So if you're looking to hit Melton's (and you should if you haven't), go on a Thursday night around 9:00.

Until just recently, I lived within walking distance of Melton's. I've moved 20 miles away but I'll still be going back. This place is an incredible mid sized beer bar. They don't have quite the scale of a Taco Mac or a Summit's, but what beer space they do have (and it really isn't that small: ~15 taps and ~60+ bottles) is primarily devoted to craft beer, with the expection of a couple standard american lagers to satisfy "that crowd".
They have long-standing relationships with Rogue and Unibroue; many varieties of both are always at hand, including rare/anniversary ones every now and then. They have been right on top of featuring incoming breweries when they hit GA, being among the first wave of GA bars to carry Dogfish Head and Victory when they arrived. They always have a belgian draft offering (beyond just the belgian-style Unibroue items) and rotating Sweetwater/Terrapin taps to feature the local brews. Care has obviously been taken with the rest of their selection, which regularly includes Wychwood, Lagunitas, and Brooklyn (among others), as well as the more "out there" items from breweries like Sam Adams and Flying Dog (Double Bock and the Double Dog, for respective examples)
The food is halfway between british pub fare and italian, and decent for the price.
The setup is very effective, a smaller front room with a small pub atmosphere and two bigger rooms that are set up as sports bars, plus a patio.
I can't say enough about the staff here; some of them (Tony in particular) have incredible knowledge about beer in general as well as the Atlanta beer scene. Ask for Tony, Ryan, or Kristen.
This bar is a great find, just a little ways away from the booming downtown Decatur beer scene, and with every bit of that area's careful attention to great beer. Highly recommended!

In some ways I'm surprised that someone else hasn't reviewed this place already. However, due to its location (not immediately downtown) it has apparently become the "unsung hero" of beer locations for Decatur, GA. This is a must stop if you are determined to hit all the beer destinations in Decatur (heck even the Greater Atlanta Area). This pub specializes in made from scratch appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches and pasta. The menu leans a little toward the Italian-inspired area (hence the pasta). I've eaten here a total of three times and the food has always been good bordering on excellent. There are two sections of this establishment. When you first enter Melton's the immediate section looks more like a Pub with a wooden bar immediately past a section of wood booths. The other section, to the left just past the bar, looks more like a low-end Mom & Pop restaurant.
Now to the important part: They must have over 100 beers total. Most of the beer 75% and up are in bottles. They have about 20 taps. The selection is excellent and apparently they rotate through different brews regularly. The selection ranges from American Macro, American Micro, Belgian, Belgian-style, German, and many other locations and styles. Some of the staff seemed to know quite a bit about the beer they offer, which is a bonus. I need to get here more often to get those jewels that I can find anywhere else. When I went last weekend, I had La Caracole Nostradamus on tap!
