Someone has taken a few square feet of Northern England and put it underneath a pub close to the harbour in Aalborg. It is by far the most British pub I have been to outside of those odd Atlantic Isles…

The row of real ale casks in the back of the long bar is one really impressive sight! They can offer up to 20 casks at the same time (gravity, no pumps). When I visited this public house in the middle of January it was out of season (some other pubs/restaurants in the town were closed for holidays), so they had “only” 5 real ales and one real cider for sale.

Besides the "live drinks", they had some 50 bottled beers and a few ciders. But I can drink those at home, so I didn’t even look at the selection.

The atmosphere was very British and relaxed. It turned out that the owner was a Briton expat, and the place is a meeting place for British seamen. They offer most of the UK cable channels, when I visited they showed Union rugby and a summery of today’s football in the lower divisions. You can borrow a few dice and board games or join the quiz night (held weekly both in English and Danish).

All the beer I drank was in very good condition, and the place looked clean and proper.

There are 65 seats at the tables (12 of them in a smaller room) and some 10 seats at the bar.
