Pours straw yellow with slight cloudiness from bottle conditioning. Fresh yeast on the nose as well as some lemony citrus hops in the background. Crisp soft mouthfeel. Bit fruity. Firm but light bitterness. There seems to be a subtle roast note in there as well. It's like a summer steam beer. This is a very very well crafted beer. Sometimes I absolutely love a gentle delicate beer like this.

Poured this at a good temperature with a very fizzy, then scummy head. Aroma was abundant tropical fruit with some yeast and hop. Flavor's a bit more traditionally steam, but not much. The heavy carbonic tang hinders. Body's a tad thin. Finish is like flavor, not very balanced, too long lasting. Never want another. Very minimally similar to a steam beer.

330ml bottle 4.5% ABV bb 29 Jan 2014 Purchased and consumed in NZ in Dec. 2013.

Pale, hazy golden-yellow body with a fine white head, and champagne-like visible carbonation .

Feel: Light and thin body with medium-high carbonation.

Aroma: sweet and fruity with some bready malt in the background.

Flavor: lemony white bread with a touch of spicy hops.

O: A poor imitation of the original Anchor Steam. Not bad but not worth seeking out.

A: Pours a hazy golden color with a nice head that fades to good lacing.

S: Aroma of citrus with some malt sweetness and grain.

T: Taste of mild malt sweetness with some fruit and spice. Mild bitterness and a clean finish.

F: Fairly light body, crisp, smooth and refreshing.

O: NIce beer that goes down quite easy. Good for a few.

look: 2.75 | smell: 4 | taste: 3.25 | feel: 3 | overall: 3.5

Appearance: Slightly hazy yellow with a thick white head. Lots of carbonation bubbles, but the head doesn't lasts for much time, and not much lacing down the glass.

Aroma: A nice collection of hops, sweet malt, tropical fruit and slight citrus.

Taste: Crisp light malt with some bitterness. A little grassy, and quite 'clean' compared to what the aroma hints at.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with medium-high carbonation. Fairly dry to the finish, with a very slight astringency.

Overall: A very easy to drink beer, but nothing special. IMHO, it could probably do with either a tad more flavour hops or a bit more sweetness to balance the astringency.

330 ML bottle

A-- Clear straw yellow. Lots of carbonation bubbles. Thin white film with a decent ringed collar. Swirl it a bit and get a two fingered head that quickly fades away to film. Good ring of lacing though.

S-- Fresh grass and malt. Otherwise not much else.

T-- Crisp grass and not much else.

M-- Crisp and lively. Light feel and high carbonation. Grass finish to this.

O-- Good for warmer weather but not a lot to this at all.

Overall a beer just above average.
Hazy and light it had a slightly sour note to both the taste and the smell , which I always associate with yeast and dont find particularly satisfying .
Certainly a nice enouh brew , perhaps more suited to really hot weather

Bottle from a supermarket in West Footscray.

A - Light golden with strong carbonation. Slight haze. One finger of white fluffy head. Minute lace and a film of retention.

S - Light citrus, tropical fruit and sweet grain.

T - Lot's of sweet grain, tropical fruit and some citrus hops, with pear and apple.

M - Overly carbonated with a light body and a crisp finish. Body is hard to pin down with the carbonation so strong.

O/D - A fairly tasty 'light' beer. Pretty decent. I remember it being really tasty on tap at the brewery but less so from the bottle which is probably older. Not bad as a gateway craft.

First of style.

Pours a massive five finger coarse ivory head - dies so quick. Straw body.

Aromas of citrus/lemon.

Taste is somewhat dry, somewhat sour. Hops drive. Sherbert is there, so is lemon, a hint of passionfruit. Quite acidic. However, it does all hang together.

Mouthfeel is light and well carbonated. Funny that. Burp fodder after a while.

Overall, interesting. A great hot weather beer. Zestily refreshing. So when will Mountain Goat make their core business their better one-off beers, rather than the two they regularly release?

A - Light cloudy golden body with a thin white head and minimal lacing.

S - Citrusy hops, a little honey type malt.

T - Hop forward with a mild sweetness of tropical fruit flavours (passionfruit, pineapple), the malt is there but subtle.

M - Crisp light to medium body, moderate carbonation.

O - A little bit different and really sessionable.

Bought a single bottle of this from the local independent wine shop and poured into a footed pilsner glass.

Appearance – Yellowy gold colour with a slightly cloudy appearance (possibly due to some wheat malt being used)

Smell – light and refreshing citrus with a delayed hint of floral aromas

Taste – crisp and slightly citrus with a light bitterness.

Feel – medium body, clean and clear and easy to drink.

Overall – an easy light drink good for hot weather or hot food. Enough taste and nose to keep it all interesting.

330ml into a dimpled stein.

A-Straw to yellow body with a quickly fading white head.

S-Sweet bready/yeasty smell with a bit of fresh earthy hops.

T-very interesting combination of almost sweetness from the malts (cereal sweetness), but then a finishing dry bitterness akin to California IPA. The sweetness is similar to a farmhouse or saison, with less tartness, replaced by a dry bitter hop.

M-The carbonation makes it crisp with a lingering biscuit flavor.

O-This combination of sweetness and dry bitter is hard to put a finger on, but it works. The subtle sweetness takes this beer to a different level. I'd rather drink this than most of the IPA's I've had. Very well done.

Hadn't heard of Mountain Goat before but the wife was inspired by the 'organic' branding so she picked it off the shelf. Got it home, and she gave it to me after only one sip. Diagnosis: not a beer for regular folk?

OK, my review...

Straw pour with one finger head receding to a persistent layer leaving no lacing behind.

Smell is on the lighter side, but a wonderfully pleasant aroma emanates from the glass nonetheless, with hints of flora and citrus.

Taste is light citrus (lemony), and very smooth.

Mouthfeel is once again very smooth, perfect carbonation.

Easiest drinking craft beer I've found, possesses the only good attribute of a macro (throw-down-ability), whilst still being a pleasant 'crafty' drop.

One of the most consistent beers I've tried, I would highly recommend this for summer as an easy drinking beer, and I will be purchasing lots.
