Unless you're from the area, Deep Ellum is not easily found nor easy to get to, but it is worth a trip for some unusual beers. I was impressed that they had several German beers on tap in addition to the usual blend of domestic craft brews. All of the beers were of high quality and many were not commonly available. The range of beer styles ensures that there is something worthwhile for every palate.
The small, long and narrow bar is located on the corner of two very busy streets: North Beacon and Cambridge. You need to be alert as it does not have much of a street presence. From the door, there's a bar for about 20 on your left and a single row of tables on the right with the restrooms and kitchen toward the back. The decor is relatively plain and unremarkable. While I did not have any of the food offered, I would describe it as fancy bar fare. My neighbors thought their food was good for what that's worth.
The service was more or less indifferent. The bartenders would come by within five minutes of an empty glass to offer a refill. Although the bar was full, no one seemed to be harried. At each end of the bar were two unwatched TVs with no volume. The general feel was friendly and convivial.
