Trivia nights are fun up here. I like the vibe and the people there, as well as it being around the corner from me! Not sure on the food part as I've never eaten there?

I like that this place has more craft beer than most places in Fort Worth, but the prices are pretty high.

Great Coffee shop meets pub atmosphere. Limited indoor seating but lots of tables outside. Only 2 dart boards but plenty of character and friendly service. The service was a little slow on the night we visited but in their defense they had a large party and a full house of other visitors.

Stopped by on a mid-Friday afternoon. Another chill craft brew spot in FTW.

Since we were in so early, our barkeep was extremely helpul with descriptions and types of beers, offering samples to us visting Coloradans.

Had a nice mix Texas craft brews along with international and US craft staples.

Enjoyed the rustic all-wood look and the couches in the back looked very comforable.

My only complaint was the ability to smoke in the place, which got more annoying as more started sparking up (take that sh*t outside fools, I don't want to be a part of your lung decay).

Aside from the smoking, the atmosphere and selection was top-notch.

Been waiting for a cool day to rate Ginger Man, since it's got a really nice outside area that's unfortunately unbearable June through August. Always a great selection at Ginger Man and they somehow never seem to be out of what they show on the menu. It's a plus that you can purchase their tap beers in pitchers. Food is pretty standard bar faire, good but not great. Servers generally good and helpful but occasionally seem to dissapear without a trace for a half hour at a time. Vibe seems really variable on the half dozen visits I've made - some nights it's almost empty with just a few lonely down and out types sitting at the bar, other nights it's filled to the brim inside and out with young happy professionals. Overall a very enjoyable establishment and seems to get better with every visit.

Stopped in here around 1400 on 15 Aug 2011 after a minor cultural day in Ft. Worth.

Found an empty sixth of Sam Adams in the parking lot on our way in. Got some odd looks as we entered with it. About 60 or so beers on tap, with another 70 in bottles. Well selected but nothing really out of the ordinary. I got the Live Oak Hefe, which was significantly better than the one I had at Crickets a couple of days ago. A got the Franconia Kolsch.

A little dark because all the blinds were drawn. Comfortable leather couch. Wooden bartop, brick and wood floors. Largish collection of empty beer bottles, but w multiple duplicates. A jukebox plays some of your favorite hits. A couple of TVs were showing golf. Darts towards the back left. Some outdoor seating as well.

Bar was a bit smoky even though there were only about three patrons and only one was smoking.

Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon during a Mavs game. Walked right up to the bar to meet with a friend from out of town.

Had a great time. Relaxed atmosphere and a draught selection of about 30 or so. Bottle selection was broad, but there was more than enough on tap to keep me interested.

Bartender was friendly, knowledgeable, and more than willing to pour samples or make recommendations. He just happened to overhear my friend and I mention curiosity about a Kolsch, and he had a sample for us the next sample, but he didn't say anything. Absolutely terrible. I learned to take this guy's recommendations. All pints were served in correct glassware.

I would highly recommend this place to locals and those just visiting Fort Worth. Relaxed atmosphere, great staff, great selection, and plenty of seating options inside and outside. Smoking can be a problem sometimes, but this past time it was just barely there.

Dog friendly out in the beer garden, which is always a hit with us. Smoking inside, which is a bit of a bummer...although that is more of a Texas law thing than a hit against the establishment. Pretty decent tap list and wicked friendly staff. The beers were reasonably priced and the place has a great atmosphere. Bar stools at the bar, booths and tables all around, an area with leather sofas, dart boards, a piano, and a spacious beer garden. Pretty sure I saw a tasting group while we walked through with the pooch, as they were sitting around a table with a pretty large bucket filled with chilling bottles of many a brew. Also, while we were walking out we passed a guy carrying in a couple cases of many brews, so they are apparently open to all kinds of group meetings. We also met a guy there that runs a homebrew group, and they were having a meeting later that night. Seems like a happening stop for the local beer fans. They had chips and other snacks for sale at the bar, and my wife scored a root beer float (which she had been craving for a while), so there are some snacking options. Not sure about a full menu, as we were just swinging through and didn't want a meal. Definitely worth a stop if you are local, and even if you are passing through. We would absolutely go again.

Last visit was on 1-28-11 with a friend, on a Friday night and we took a seat at the bar which was surpisingly not very crowded. The outside patio was more busy than the inside. Not 10 secs. after we sat down the bartender introduced herself and offered us a menu. There were two bartenders that night and they seemed to be very knowledgable about the beers they served, even offering us samples to try before hand.

It was during Stock Show weekend and they had $3.50 pint specials on Rahr Bros, which I took advantage of with an Iron Thistle and I finally had their BBWW(1/2 pint, definately worth the wait). Finished the night with a DFH 90min.

Was only there about an hour and a half, so didn't have time to try out others, but their beer menu had a pretty good selection of domestic and foreign lagers and stouts to choose from. IPA selection, however, was kinda limited.

Definately a place I'd like to try again soon, when I have a little more time to really walk around and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. I was told they had a dartboard, which is something I could get into. Also noticed that they allowed pets(I'm assuming patio only), which is cool.

I visited the Metroplex over the weekend and assurbanipaul suggested I visit the Gingerman. We arrived shortly after the place opened and were the fourth and fifth folks to arrive, if you count the beer salesman having a sandwich at the bar. We seated ourselves at the bar, and we drooled over the selection.

The bartender was Molly, a short, dark haired, no-nonsense lady who had a pretty smile and twinkling eyes. I spotted the Franconia Spelt tap and asked for a pint. She gave me the once over, and said, "Let me pour you a sample first."

Butterscotch beer. And I hate butterscotch. Sigh. Maybe another day, Franconia! Thanks, Molly, for giving me a heads up.

We spent an enjoyable three hours there, chatting with Molly and having beers I just can't get at home. By the time we left the place was packed and coming to life. I wish I lived closer. It seems like a great neighborhood place.

I've visited the Ginger Man twice recently, once to try the initial release of the 2009 Rahr & Sons Whiskey Warmer, and once to get a Stella Artois glass on glass night.

On the first visit, the place was packed, so we had to sit outside under a light rain next to a table of violently loud college students. Service was okay, but the atmosphere drove us away after one beer.

On the second visit, we got a table inside and proceeded to wait 15 minutes for the waitress (she appeared to be the only one in the whole place) to take our order. It took another 10 minutes to get our beers. The waitress (I referred to her as Haley's Waitress in my Facebook posting that evening) didn't come back for 45 minutes. We had been done with our beer for more than 20 minutes at that point. We finally ordered our second beers, telling her we wanted to be sure we got the glasses. 15 minutes later, a bar back delivered our Stellas in regular pint glasses and told us they were out of the free Stella glasses. We sent the beers back, and had to go find the waitress to ask for our tab.

So, I've been to the Ginger Man twice, for a total of about 2 hours, and I've only had 2 beers there. They have a reasonable beer selection, but the service was the worst I have ever received at a bar, and the atmosphere was too loud (although, the music, when you could hear it, was very good classic rock). I think they need to hire more, and better, waitstaff. I recommend The Flying Saucer in downtown Fort Worth, instead - they have a much better beer selection, better prices, far better service, and a nice beer club for repeat offenders.

Finally made it to the Ginger Man in Ft. Worth for the first time the other night. I'm a little upset I haven't been here before! I really enjoyed the patio outside, I was even able to bring my dog. This was the first bar in the DFW that I've been able to bring my pup too so I was happy. Everything else was great too. I wish it had a little bit more selection with their beers from Texas but I'm just trying to be picky! Other than that I don't have any complaints, the staff was real nice and it was a nice clean establishment. I will definitely be back soon!

I came here because I saw online they carried some really good beers on tap that we can't buy bottled here in Texas. Personally I had the Double Bastard, the Live Oak hefewiezen and the Rahrs Barrel aged whiskey warmer. Quite a good night, a pretty relaxed atmosphere as well. One of the bartenders ignored me one time which left a sour taste in my mouth, however when I asked the busboy what the abv was on the rahr warmer he replied somewhere between 8-11%. 5 minutes later he was at my table with a printout from this very site-BeerAdvocate. I thought that was good service and felt like he was genuine. Had a blast that night and the beers were fantastic. They were each served in suggested glassware as well. I look forward to going back soon.

The Ginger Man is tucked away on Camp Bowie (by Montgomery..the Museums, Omni, etc) behind a CVS. Parking usually isn't that great if you get there late when it's usually pretty packed. It's a good environment decorated in empty bottles, has leather couches and TVs, outside seating with umbrellas, and a juke. ~60 beers on tap including a few seasonals (had the Double Bastard myself). All are reasonably priced. Staff is fairly knowledgeable and friendly (few cuties there as well). Never dissapointed when stopping by for a pint or two and watch a game.

Probably the best beer bar that I've ever visited...

I made the trek over here thru rush hour traffic and found the place absolutely packed but I was determined to have a couple of pints so in I went...

What greeted me was an exceptional lineup of taps and bottles the likes of which I've never seen... Tons and tons of local brews including the seasonal Oktoberfests along with several West Coast IPAs and other great brews like Black Butte Porter and Maharaja...

I ordered a local brew, St Arnold's Elissa IPA which was on cask and a Green Flash West Coast IPA among others...this was one terrific bar... The service was a little slow but like I said they were packed...prices were very very reasonable and this particular night they were giving away Summit Oktoberfest pint glasses with a purchase...

Overall a wonderful experience that I will remember..

This has become one of my favorite beer destinations when I go vist my wife's family in FW so it is now time for a proper review.

The layout of this place is really nice. When you walk in the bar is immediately in front of you. The walls are covered with various bottles and cans. There is a chalkboard hanging above the bar with new bottle and tap releases. The beer menus are scattered about the bar, but when this place is busy, finding a menu can be a pain. There is plenty of seating indoors, but I usually sit at their really nice outdoor patio due to the cigarette smoke.

The tap selection is very good. They carry a nice selection of TX beers (Live Oak, Rahr, Real Ale, St. Arnold, etc). They also carry a good selection of beers from the West (Old Rasputin, Hop Rod Rye, Maharaja) to the Midwest (Boulevard) to the East (90 Minute). They also offer a cask option (Sisyphus 08 when I was there). They have a few beers from various other countries on tap, but I was more interested in regional beers that I have never tried. The bottle list is pretty good and had a lot of the Boulevard Smokestack beers available. Darught prices did not seem too bad, but some of the bottles were a little pricey ($7 for a can of Gordon).

I can't speak for the food as I have only come here to drink.

The service is very good. If you sit outside they have table service and they are quick at getting drink orders filled. The bartenders are very knowledgeable and were good at making recommendations.

One of my favorite pubs to go to. Nice, cozy atmosphere. I've been here several times on Friday and Saturday nights and I have never seen it too busy to where you couldn't find a seat. The bar has somewhat limited parking, but there usually isn't too much of a problem finding a space. They have a pretty good selection of taps and bottles. Recently they have had an excellent selection of winter warmers. The service is good. The bartenders and waitresses are attentive which is somewhat rare at bars from what I have found. I have not tried the food, but it is a little above average price wise. The beer is also a little pricey too, but I guess it's basically what you would expect from a place like this. Great place though. Would definitely recommend going here if you are in Fort Worth.

Brick floor, wooden seats, brass tap board, bottle collection and brewania line the walls, couple of TVs playing the college games. Umbrella tables outside by the street isn't the bier garden setting I've come to expect from the noble G Man.
Good selection of beer, 65 taps, no crap save one Macrowater. Live Oak Hefe, Rahr O'fest, Real Ale Lost Gold IPA and other Texas brews well represented.
Friendly staff, prices were a bit high, but not crazy $4.75 a pint. Place lost a point when people at the bar lit up some cigs. Push those smokers outside, I'm drinking beer here!
A worthy stop on the Ft. Worth beer scene, I think it's a better overall experience than the Flying Saucer at the moment. Time to rise to the challenge FS!

Stopped in on a lazy Saturday afternoon. Place was practically empty. Loved the look and feel of the room (it really is just one long room). Also loved the neighborhood. Simple and inviting decor, lots of wood tones well mixed with the standard beer bar pin-ups of various brew house posters and advertisments. As a previous reviewer mentioned, the couches at the streetside part of the building is where to be. While visiting, I noticed two seperate families with small children in the room. Unusual for the TX beer scene, but it felt okay for the setting, which is something I appreciate. I also felt like the place didn't feel as dirty as some of these bars can be. For example, the bathrooms were actually clean. That should almost be a scoring catagory in itself and this would probably be the first bar I've been to that would score highly.

The beers I had were served up right. Poured properly, tasted fresh, about the right temp. High marks for quality.

Service was good and reasonably helpful. She knew the lineup and I overheard seemingly adequate suggestions being made at another table. I wouldn't call it perfect, but I can't really complain. I think they might be tested at a busier time of the day though. Just a feeling, no evidence to back that up.

The selection is smaller than say The Flying Saucer, but they have some stuff that FS doesn't have. Great and well chosen. Gotta love the Live Oak offerings. That being said, there might be room for growth here. No complaints, but more is always better.

The three beers I had seemed pretty reasonably priced, but the food on the menu seemed a little pricey. And, as others have mentioned, there are places in town with better regular specials.

All in all, a worthwile trip. I'd go back if I was in the area. The Flying Saucer is still probably the better choice, but this is a great change of pace. Plus the only place in town to get the heralded Live Oak Hefe.

It's great to have one of these locally now.

There's a bar up by the front entrance; move past it to the left and you pass a number of tables and booths and reach my personal favorite part of the location: big soft leather couches and chairs around a nice coffee table by a fireplace. There are two dartboards nearby, and a door leads out to a lovely patio area. On a slow night, the couches are the perfect place to curl up with a good book and a few good beers.

Each beer I had (Live Oak Liberation IPA, Real Ale Brewhouse Brown, and McEwan's Scotch Ale) was served at a good temperature, well-poured, and tasted fresh and well cared-for. Tap lines are actually clean (I hope this lasts) and I felt I got a good taste of each brew.

I've heard some kvetching about the service, but frankly I can't account for it. I find the waitstaff helpful, attentive, and knowledgeable. Selection isn't the absolute biggest around, but it includes several beers no other bar in the area offers, including of course Live Oak's lineup. I had the roast beef sandwich, which was very tasty (though I could have paired it better). Service was always prompt. Likewise with pricing - it's not cheap, but it's no more expensive than anywhere else in the Metroplex that offers what it offers. I dropped about $20 (plus tip) on a satisfying meal and three excellent beers. I can deal with that.

My only complaints, really, were the lack of pricing on the menu and the failure to keep the beer list updated - I had a couple of disappointments with seasonal taps that were still marked as available. Still, this will be a go-to hangout for me, especially on off nights when it's cozy like you wouldn't believe.

The Fort Worth location is typical of the other Ginger Mans in most respects--an older, renovated structure, a beer garden, some comfortable seating, and an outstanding beer selection--the main differences are its size (a little smaller than the Austin or the Dallas), that it is single-story, and that the beer garden is exposed, not secluded. These differences don't really make it any better or worse than the others, though; just a little "what-to-expect" if you've been to the others before.

I like this kind of atmosphere--it's a traditional pub, but with table service and better beer. There are four-top tables, benches along the side walls, and a "den" area with a comfortable couch and chairs around a low cocktail table. The beer garden isn't very big, but they pack a lot of long tables and benches in there. There are umbrellas for the sun and soft yellow lights for the evenings.

The beer selection is great, and (because everything is brand new) the tap lines are clean and everything is fresh. Beer selections are available on the website: http://ftworth.gingermanpub.com.

I had to go with a lower mark on the service just because the last couple of times I've gone, I was overlooked in the beginning (maybe it was a shift change?), and didn't get a menu when I asked for one. Hopefully that's unusual, though. After I was noticed, the beer and meal came quickly.

The food is good, but not great. The menu isn't as diverse as the Flying Saucer, but there are some really nice options. The Beer Companion is a great snack tray--the kind of thing I might put together for myself and some friends at the house. Some nice (not great, again, but nice) cheeses, crackers, olives, fruit, and bread with mustard on the side. The sandwiches are good, too, but aren't very big. The chips are tasty--I don't know what brand they are, but they taste sweet to me. Don't come here hungry--everything is pretty good, but you'll spend a fortune trying to fill yourself up.

Which brings me to my last point, and my only major criticism: the place is expensive. Unlike the Flying Saucer, which also carries some very pricey beers, the G Man doesn't list their prices on the menu. If I'm feeling cheap at the FS, I will order the $2.50 "Fire Sale," or at least pick cheaper draft beers. That's not an option at the G Man, because the menu doesn't say how much the beers are. Of course you can just ask, or use your BA spidey-sense to determine which are the really expensive ones and which are just moderately expensive, but even then it seems like each pint is about $4 at the cheapest, and $6 or $7 at the most. Happy hour is only 50 cents off pints and $1 off pitchers, so that's not a real improvement either. Like I said above, the sandwiches are tasty, but small, and at $5.75 to $7.75 each, you probably don't want more than one.

That's it. Here's the upshot: I like it a lot (and it's extremely close to my house--about 2 blocks away), but I won't "session" much there. It's a great place to meet friends for a pint or two, but if I really feel like sampling several different beers, I'll probably be someplace else.

2/27/2007 Edit: I forgot to mention another peculiarity about the G Man: they always ask for a card to start a tab. It feels kind of strange, especially if you're there during the day and there are no other customers, and they still require a card up front to get a beer.
