Lord Nelson's first bottle release... and they definitely could have picked a better brew to start with.

Three sheets pours well. Golden amber with a healthy head. The head doesn't stick around for long though.

There are some hops in the aroma but not enough to overcome the smell of metal.

This beer has some taste and mouthfeel, but it becomes cloying after about a third of the brew. I was unable to finish a six-pack at a party. And I will not be purchasing any more Three Sheets. Why don't they bottle their porter?

Look - hazy body. Orange-amber. One finger off head head does not stay around.

Smell is a little peach, a little mango, but not alot going on.

Taste is very pleasant drinking from the get-go. Sweetish fruit salad notes on front palate, and a little hop bitterness. Little yeast. Integrated tase, nothing dominates.

Mouthfeel light and sessionable.

Very good session beer.

A - Cloudy orange body with a finger of white head from an aggressive pour. Faint short webs of lace.

S - Mild tropical fruit hops with some sweet malt.

T - Follows the nose, traces of green apple. Not much punch.

M - Light thin body, low carbonation. Watery.

O - OK balance and not the worst pale ale on the market but much better options available.

Slight cloudy light golden appearance. Low carbonation. Thin frothy white head. Very little sediment in the bottle if it is bottle conditioned. Some previous reviews mention this as a low point so not sure if they have modified their process but looks fine now.

A gentle mix of malt hops and yeast. Not quite expected for the style, but certainly not unpleasant. Light citrus and yeast esters with a bit of malt sweetness.

Similar makeup in the taste. Light hop and yeast character supported by backing malt sweetness. Low bitterness but enough for balance. Yeast character comes out a bit more as it warms.

An interesting beer this and a bit tough to review. Not sure if it's brewed as an EPA or just classed wrong here. If the style here is wrong it's probably closest to an American blonde, but even then the yeast is still a but out of place. In it's favor though, it's flaws are not deal breakers and may just be part of the character of the beer.

The beer advocate boys are tough or got a bad batch. Three sheets does not deserve an "F" and would recommend a re-try. My guess is they got some in the US which was spoiled. They need to try it fresh and I believe they would at least give it a "D"....I mean c'mon this is better than Bud Light! Anyway, I thought it was quite tasty. It was a lighter beer, good for the summer months. It wasn't an all-powerful West Coast pale ale, more of a East Coast pale with hints/scents of fruit. Dont be swayed....at this try it.
