Bottle: Poured a clear medium golden color ale with a relatively small foamy head with minimal retention and not much lacing. Aroma of sweet wheat malt notes with some residual sugars notes also perceptible. Taste is also dominated by caramelized wheat malt notes with a little bit of residual sugar notes and light boozy notes. I can’t say that the white wine barrel were detectable. Body was full for style with good carbonation and a little bit boozy. Overpriced for sure with barrel-aging notes hardly detectable; I will probably skip out next time I see this on the shelves.

A: Firstly, it was a gusher unlike I have EVER experienced before in a beer. Honey amber, moderate cloudiness much like a hefeweizen, medium low slow rising carbonation, 4 fingers of slightly yellow tinged white head that leaves a chunky sugar like lacing.
S: Pineapple, funky, Bier Brut like, a sort of sharp blue cheese like air hits the nose like some Belgians and Deus, sour lambic like quality as well, raw macaroni, an almost lactic quality, apricots, peach, lemon juice and lemon rind.
T: A light sweetness with lemonade, lemon peel, the Belgian yeasts, the blue cheese like bite comes in, funky but little sourness. Light bitter hopping near the end like lemon rind. Oak, woody quality as well.
M: Medium smooth, chewy, bready body, little carbonation left after the gusher. Finish is like the rind of a lemon.
O: This one is reminding me of a Bier Brut, in many ways like Deus. Champagne like, slightly funky and aged, lots of carbonation and light. Fantastic brew!

Appearance: It has a nice hazy golden/orange color to it. It has a nice off-white head that dies down somewhat fast and leaves nice lacing.
Smell: The aromas definitely give out hints of wheat, white wine, oak, citrus/lemon and some light floral hops.
Taste: Like the aromas, it has some wheat, white wine, some woody oak, lemon zest, some floral notes and a faint grassy bitterness.
Mouthfeel: It has a low carbonation with a nice overall balance and feel.
Drinkability: It's a very smooth drinkable beer accompanied by good flavors and aromas.

Opened this with fairly high expectations. From notes.
A - Golden and bright pour with mild carbonation. One finger of white head left minimal spotty lace and a mild film of retention.
S - Grainy, lemon, honey.
T - Rich honey, sweet grain, an odd note I'm assuming is the chardonnay wood. A weird harshness.
M - Good carbonation, medium body, sweet grainy finish.
O/D - This left me a bit confused and underwhelmed. Barrel didn't seem too strong and the base wasn't overly interesting. Another hyped up brew from Beau's that really didn't deliver.

Pours a slightly hazy light copper. Interestingly I got almost zero head on the pour but there is quite a decent amount of lacing being left behind as drunk. Aromas of sweet caramel malts, some molasses, and maybe a hint of white wine. Tastes are in the area of red fruit peels, and caramel. Fairly sweet. I get no hop balance to any of this at all. Overall, one of Beau’s more hoity toity offerings, but I’m glad I tried one, as it is worth a try.

Bottle into a tulip glass, a medium gold with quite a solid soft white head, great lacing and retention. Smell has got some green wheat notes, limes, quite mineraly and gooseberry. Taste has some more light sauv blanc character, light florals and citrus acidity, gooseberry tartness and lychee, more of the hearty wheat character comes through on the finish. Flavour is light and playful for such a big beer but it packs quite a bit of a flavour punch, lots of alcoholic wheat which become a it harsh nearing the finish. Mouthfeel is substantial, light carb, and a heavy wine texture, though very creamy with the wheat. This beer was not excately up my alley, felt heavier than it needed to be, with maybe an over emphasis on the wheat and the white wine acidity, some of the paleness crept in as well though and overall it is a hearty and fairly complex brew. Kudos to beaus on this but not their best. Fairly good all round wheatwine.
