Notes/Commercial Description:
Golden-hued, crisp and finely balanced, Lug Tread is our tribute to the classic beer of Cologne, Germany. Lug Tread is top fermented (like an ale) and then cold aged (like a lager) for a lengthy period. This gives our beer some light ale notes complemented by a lager-like crispness. Lug Tread displays interwoven malt and hop flavours, subtle fruit flavours and a crisp, lingering finish.

Pours nice, mid-dark golden colour. Mild smell. Big flavour for a lager. I am see the kolsch in this brew, a sweat taste that goes dry, has a noticeable bitter note that even stays with on the tongue a while on the after taste. This is a good lager, Beau's makes some good beers, this is there flag ship and I can see why this is so popular...

Unlike most in the area, I am not overy impressed with Beaus (or this beer). Smell is grainy and earthy. Taste is malty and grainy, and for the most part leaves an aftertaste of dirt. moderate bitterness rolls through the finish. Not bad on a summer day but wouldnt be the first beer i would go for. Being that it is made locally still makes me pick one up from time to time

2nd Review on BA
600mL bottle to bolleke globlet

Purchased at a downtown Toronto LCBO for $15.85 per four bottles.

App- The appearance is a nice straw to very pale gold color. The head is substantial and inviting. It is very much appetizing to the eyes with no real turn-offs. It is nice and crisp and everything you would hope for from a cold stored ale character-wise.

Smell- The beer smells amazing. It's highly reminiscent of cereal grains and makes you think of a hearty breakfast. There is a certain fruit character that is underplayed but get's overshadowed by the more powerful wheat character. Despite, or maybe in spite of that power play, this beer's smell begs you to drink it.

Taste-This beer has great balance, the hops come through but so does the malt and the wheat. Lug Tread begs for another sip and you are left sad when the road of discovery leads to an empty bottle.

Mouth-The mouth feel is rather light and crisp but leaves your palette hungering for another sip. The carbonation is at play and is exciting at least until your beer becomes warm (probably because you are savoring each sip and the bottle is rather large).

Drink- Time for some brutal and embarassing honesty from the reviewer. Let it stand as a warning to my fellow Ontario-residents who are shopping singles in the craft section of the LCBO. I grabbed a single bottle of Lug Tread from a four pack and was charged for the full pack. I realized that fact when I double checked the receipt to note the price for this review. By that point in time I had already had my first sip and was in love. I'm excited to try and convince the LCBO to give me the 3 bottles I paid for (but did not receive) so that I can introduce my girlfriend to this beer, my friends, and hopefully mail some to my family in the states. If my home brew were to ever turn out like this beer, I would quit my job.

Packaged 11/July/12 from LCBO. Pours a fluffy white head, pretty quick to recede, leaving a soupy film and lace. Colour is a light yellow gold, with active carbonation.

Aroma has fresh, slightly floral malt, with a lot of grape/wine character. Hops also but not too dominant. A bit of fruitiness and biscuit malt.

Taste of this is interesting. It has a strong element of vinous, earthy herbal hop character that is quite thick, over top of the roast malt body. Hops are also moderately assertive, adding to a complex flavour profile. Overall its got a strong malty bitterness, just a bit of sour edge.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied, carbonation is at a pretty good level, goes quite dry on the finish. Drinkability is solid. Finish is characterized by a balanced dry sour malt.

Quite enjoyable stuff, not your average beer for sure. Refreshing with good balance, nice complexity and flavour.

Appearance: Light yellow body that boasts ample carbonation and two fingers of head. Didn't really lace a lot but it did stick around for a decent amount of time.

Smell: Yeast, hops and pears. It's a bit strange but then again, I've never had experienced Kolsch before. Warming helped it come out.

Taste: Has a peppery taste to the whole beer, starting with bread in the background with some brief pear that is dominated by an odd dry yeast taste and ends with a does of floral hops. Really though, it's all in the background to that odd peppery taste.

Mouthfeel: The aftertaste is unsurprisingly peppery, but it eases of fairly well up until you are near the end of the beer. The carbonation is exceptional but it is a little rough around the edges.

Drinkability: It's interesting and it's thirst quenching but I dunno if I'd want to drink it all night. It sit down well and easy to drink but the spiciness is oddly dry.

Final Thoughts: This beer to me comes across as a more lager like Kellerbier. The peppery taste is there and amped up, the malt isn't quite there but the hops make more of a presence known. All in all, this would be great with a summer time steak.
