Pours a clear copper with an inch of thick creamy off-white head that leaves a massive web of lacing with each sip.

Lots of caramel malt, definitely more of an English IPA than an American (west-coast IPA). Now that I'm reading the little booklet that comes with the bottle, they indicate that this beer is "taking the malt and yeast profile of a traditional British-Style India Pale Ale and adding an American-Style citrus punch." Agreed.

Nice mouthfeel and carbonation. The malty sweetness balances out the hoppy bitterness.

Overall, a nice offering from Beau's.

A very good IPA, 60 IBU so it isn't nearly as hoppy as something like Boneshaker. Poured very nicely into the glass, lots of foamy head, very nice lacing down the glass.

Right away in the aroma you can tell its an IPA, hops and citrus hit you immediately.
The bitterness is quite wonderful and a bit addicting. A 5.6% ABV makes it perfect for
a spring or summer day without making you tipsy. Sessionable for someone more adventurous.

The cloudy golden colour is quite inviting, the aftertaste sticks with you, but leaves you wanting more.

This is a very good, proper IPA, much more adventurous than other mass market vesions,
but not quite to the other end of the spectrum.

A: Copper with a slight cloudiness, 3 fingers of slightly beige creamy white head with large and small bubbles as well as chunks of lacing. Little fine bubbled carbonation.

S: Pine, citrus, tropical fruits, pineapple, mango, papaya, onion, a little dankness.

T: Lots of up front bitterness, orange, mango, pine, light sweetness, onion, dankness, but mostly bitterness that is like cayenne pepper without the heat. Well balanced, solid beer.

M: Syrupy resinous body, little to no carbonation.

O: Well crafted, so proud of this Canadian IPA. Balanced, got all the hops and malt, not overly sweet. Very enjoyable.

600 ml bottle served well chilled into a pint glass. Purchased from LCBO for $4.35 CDN.

Appearance - Clear, honey brown and amber color. Dense frothy finger and a half of foam with good retention and leaves sticky, spidery lacing. A few stray bubbles float to the surface. Really enticing.

Smell- Some tropical fruit namely pineapple and other citrus aromas. Crisp pine aromas and light malty scents too. Pretty we'll balanced in the nose.

Taste- moderately bitter, with a dry earthy taste. The tropical fruits are there but more subdued but more lemon lime rather than pineapple and without the refreshing nature those fruits normally offer. Malts and booze are present but well- hidden.

Mouthfeel- smooth with a medium body and lowish carbonation.

Overall- a pretty tasty IPA but doesn't have much that separates itself from the pack. Nonetheless highly drinkable just other cheaper and slightly better options are available.

Purchased at the LCBO 600ml bottle for $4.85. Served at 10deg C in a water glass.

A- Excellent! Opened very well and poured with a 1" head settling to a film within a minute.

S- Excellent! A true English IPA. Very good. Citrus and lemon hints. Corriander

T- Excellent! Very good. Enjoying this one a lot. Carbonation is excellent and the bitter bite on the tongue in place

M- Excellent and tart as expected from an IPA

O- Excellent! Put it in a can on the shelf for $2.50 and they will have a regular customer. Will buy again unless they raise the price

Food Pairing

This wonderful Canadian IPA paired well with... Chicken parmesan. This wonderful IPA just cut through the cheese and tomato sauce like a Jewish mother through their children's self esteem.

Enjoy!

Beaus bomber bottle into pint glass. Colour is an orangey coppery brown with a nice creamy head that has really great retention and lacing. Beer is unfiltered and cloudy.

S - fruity, a touch of grapefruit, pomegranate, pale bready malts, some light melon character to it. Definitely not a west coast citrus bomb, this is subtle, some pine, earthy and slightly herbal. Understated, with a fair bit of caramel maltiness, but interesting.

T - starts of with red fruits, cherry and apple, lemony, then more of a malt profile comes out, bready and toasty caramel. Its a bit sweet. Toffee and caramel, but some earthy hoppiness to balance it out. Finish is dry, hay note, and earthy.

M - moderate bodied, with an appropriate carbonation. A bit of a coating sweetness but it is a tasty session IPA, goes to a bit more bitter on finish. Easily drinkable with a moderately assertive palate.

Overall a decent and tasty, though not inspiring take. Certainly an approachable IPA that also has some flavour, the hops are restrained and earthy, some citrus to it. It does make for a decently rounded IPA, but Ontario has more exciting offerings in the style recently. One I would have again certainly, but not a must try I think, far from the promised hop bomb. Still overall enjoyable experience.

600 mL bottle picked up at the LCBO; packaged March 10 2014. Beau's products have only recently become widely available in these parts, so this is one of the few remaining OCB IPAs that has successfully eluded my ticking efforts. Until now, anyway. Served slightly chilled.

Pours a lovely golden-amber colour with a bright, clear complexion. Seated atop the liquid is two fingers of frothy, billowing off-white head that gradually recedes into a soapy cap and collar. Great lacing - this IPA certainly looks the part, and the aroma is quite enticing, too. Lots of pine sap, grapefruit and some floral hop notes accompany some caramel and biscuity sweet malts.

Not a bad IPA at all, and balanced with a stronger malt profile than many beers in this style. Caramel and some bready, biscuity malts provide an undercurrent of sweetness, with the white grapefruit pith and pine notes of the hops demanding more of your attention toward the finish. A little buttery, with some marmalade vibes. It finishes bitter, but not overly so given the style, leaving a piney, earthy bitterness behind on the palate. Medium in body, with a smooth, almost creamy mouthfeel and moderate carbonation levels. At 5.6%, this is one of the more sessionable examples of the style I've had.

Final Grade: 3.78, a B+. Beau's Beaver River seems to have hit the market around the time that IPAs started to really gain traction in this province, with many other OCB competitors having been spawned in the past half-decade. Comparatively, this one falls somewhere in the middle. It's a balanced, relatively light example of the style that I am enjoying, but to be honest there is nothing creative or unique about it. Worth a shot if it's a fresh bottle like this one, but there may be better options at lower price points.

A bright amber gold with a huge, thick, sparkling, amberish head that starts at 2 inches and lasted to the bottom of the glass. Very good lacing with large bubbles.

I did not need to get close to immediately enjoy the aroma that is balanced with sweet biscuit malt and freshly cut hay hops smells.

There is lots of hops in the taste. Bitter taste of hay and grass. The taste is consistent with the aroma. A long lasting bitter aftertaste.

Medium, slightly oily feel.

This is a solid American IPA but it needs more complexity in the hops and a stronger maltiness in the taste to take it to the next level.
