Bottle from the Ottawa LCBO part of the mixed 4 pack for $20

Appearance - Slightly hazy amber colour with a large size fizzy/frothy off-white coloured head. There is a high amount of carbonation showing and there is some fair lacing. The head lasted for around 5 minutes.

Smell - Breads/grains, clove/coriander, pepper, yeast

Taste & Mouth - There is a high amount of carbonation and I can taste breads/grains mixed with some clove/coriander and pepper. There is also some yeasty dry flavour and some citrus. It ends with aftertaste with a light fruitiness.

Overall - Nothing ground breaking but a nice well balanced beer that is very drinkable.

'Farm Table' is an appropriate name for a beer that looks like a loaf of bread - you could open a bakery with the yeast sediment from the bottom of this bottle! An opaque (and milky by the end) orange, it looks like a glass full of sand; the beer is not at all translucent even when held against an illuminating bright blue sky. There's some head and some lace, but not much.

The bouquet is a typical monument built by Belgian yeast, its highly seasoned perfumes giving the air of coriander (though none is used) as well as flowers and peaches. Credit should be shared, however, with the Motueka hops, a variety whose New Zealand origins make no surprise of the zesty lemon and lime notes that give this a dashingly citric fragrance.

The malts provide a wholesome, very bread-like taste on the palate, but more interesting flavours include plenty of sweet mandarin orange, white pepper, a long and savory cloveiness throughout and the sweet treat of cookies on the finish. Though purportedly aged in white wine barrels, there is nothing really at all in the taste to indicate it...

Indeed, apart from having a fairly dry finish, I can't trace a single one of the beer's features back to the barrels in which they served time. Hops and yeast tag-team the hell out the aroma, taste, and mouthfeel, which they've wallpapered in mild citrus acidity and resigned clove spice. The carbonation has tired in the few months since bottling, but is still light on its feet.

As pleasant an offering this white wine barrel-aged, bottle-conditioned, obscure hop variety-using beer surely is, complexity is not its strong-suit. No matter, as the name suggests, it is a refreshing ale suited to easy, everyday consumption. Don't expect anything elaborate, rather the tried and true citrus-spice-and-everything-nice formula that put Belgian ales on the map.

Bottle: Poured a hazy beige color ale with a rather large off-white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of rustic malt with light lingering sweet notes. Taste is a mix between some rustic malt with light residual sugar and some light dry wheat notes. Body is quite full with good carbonation. Well brewed though fell a bit short on the complexity expected for this style.

Deep orange, 1.5 fingers of white head and a quite lacey throughout. Smell has lots of spice and yeast, fruity with some citrus and grren apple, more spice rounds out the nose. Taste is floral with dry citrus, medium bitterness with lightly spicy yeast in the finish, very clean and refreshing. Medium-high drying carbonation, fairly light feel however. This was pretty good however a bigger mouthfeel would make this a hell of a lot better as this was quite flavourful.

Appearance: It has a nice cloudy deep golden/orange color to it. It has a nice white head that dies down moderately and leaves some lacing.

Smell: The aromas definitely give out hints of Belgian yeast, spices, bready malts some grassiness and some citrusy fruit.

Taste: Like the aromas, it has a some Belgian yeast, peppery spices, sweet bready malts, fairly big grassiness and some citrusy fruit.

Mouthfeel: It has a medium carbonation with a nice overall balance and feel.

Drinkability: It's a very smooth drinkable beer accompanied with good flavors and aromas.

Bottle shared by Steve, 600ml into a tulip. Batch 2910, bottled December 4, 2012.

Hazy browned orange, with an offwhite head. Light retention and some lace. Nose of fresh citrus, a bit of pulpy juice and a wee bit of spice. Taste has some spice, some pepper, fruity notes, citrus and sharp wheat character. Bitter finish, some texture and medium carbonation. Good but as A Belgian pale ale, I was more impressed with the Koru.

Bottle acquired as part of the Best of Beau's Mixed Pack. Poured into a ceramic Beau's mug.

A: Hazy yellow with a nice thick tall white frothy head that sticks about and laces. Great looking beer
S: Muted nose for a belgian. Bready malt and light spicy esters. Likely the cap keeping much of the volatiles in the beer.
T/M: Delicious. Spicy black pepper, thick viscous malt and luxurious mouthfeel. Nice and estery with a great deal of bready malt in the beer.
O: Personally I think this is one of the best put together Belgian beers made on this side of the pound. A nice thickness that makes the beer seem like a much bigger beer than it is, that balances the estery nature of it very well.

This pours very nice. Citrus and low hop aroma. Dark golden colour, unfiltered of course, head retention on this is stellar, very frothy. This is very soft on the tongue, the blended lager and ale malts are apparent, with a nice hop taste, lowers on the aftertaste. This is a very drinkable been, too low on the alcohol in my opinion. This is only hitting at 4.5 % abv, this could have been greatly improved at 5%+.

Appearance: hazy, dull, light brown - like an unfiltered apple cider; full head that lasts several minutes and leaves lace

Aroma: slightly sour fruit - pear, apple; bready; hint of spice

Taste & Mouthfeel: first sip is disappointing - feels watered down; initially fruity but quickly turns to hop bitterness like orange pith - not peel, which would have been pleasant; flavours are juicy pulp fruit, slightly tart ; after time, it's growing on me; taste is balancing with fruit representing better throughout and hops providing good length (although still not a bitter flavour I love); good carbonation, med-light body in the end

Overall: a good fall beer; farm table seems an appropriate name, but something would have to be done about the hops for me to really want to take a seat at it again

From the Best of Beau's Mix Pack 2012.
600ml bottle poured into a goblet. ABV 4.5%.

A - Poured a cloudy gold with a thin white head. Head reduces to surface bubbles. Lots of lacing.

S - Sweet malts, bread, fruity, spicy, grass.

T - Malts including some wheat & caramel, citrus, peppery, with a pilsner like bitterness in the finish. Quite delicious.

M - Medium carbonation, medium-heavy body, tangy, somewhat crisp finish. It has the texture of an unfiltered wheat or rye beer.

O - Lots of flavour for a low ABV beer. I could easily session on this brew.

Bottled November 27, 2012.

Beer is an opaque marmalade colour. A moderately-sized white head sits atop with good retention. Some lace.

Quite a nice nose. Belgian yeast, some spicy notes, and soft fruit scents. Peach, mango and pear. Floral.

Taste contains yeast, clove, pepper, fruit (mango, peach). Quite dry, with some hoppy bitterness. Straightforward, but quite tasty. I get a bit of spicy rye flavour, but not sure how much of that is me looking for it after reading that it was in the beer.

Medium to light bodied, strongly carbonated. Refreshing.

Overall, pretty nice beer. One of the better ones I have had from Beau's.

On tap at BarHopBar. Deep yellow body with significant white head. Above average mouthfeel offset by slight astringency I think from the cloves. Gummy spicy taste, Ok drinkability. No sign of the mangos.Pepper nose.I do not know what the barreling in white wine accomplished either.
Had this again and more enjoyed in bottle, with hoppy aroma, peach colour. A little funky and tasty.
