This is located down a backstreet near the Pilgrim Street Fire Station in Newcastle's city centre. A Medium sized pub, which has only been open a few years. (Readers from the local area may be surprised at this, but in fact the old Bacchus was on the site next door to its current location) The decor gives the feel of being modern and functional while also being full of wood panelling and so dark and quite cosy. Large clear glass windows allow views of the street outside.
The pub is usually quite lively and noisy, but also comfortable.
The beer range varies, but usually includes something from the local Mordue brewery, and is always in good condition.
I've no idea if they do food or not... I was only there for the beer.

Very nice place in Newcastle. Atmosphere wise it's maybe a little too modern for me, but the fiancé who loves the more modern look adored this place. I liked it as well, it was recent but had definite character. The fact it won Tyeside bar of the year according to CAMRA certainly doesn't hurt. The Beers I had were excellent.
Very classy, without being too posh. The bar was dark wood, there were cushiony seats, a few nooks and crannies. Crowd was sparse, from young dudes having a pint to old farts...having a pint.
A few import bottles were on offer, but nothing to write home about, the 4-5 casks are the stars here.
A great stop in the north.
