A good place to go regardless. But if you are into beers and want to try different offerings, you need to come here and come here often. The selection changes frequently and they do a good job of letting you know what is coming.
Big and changing selection both in terms of drafts and bottles. When it come to managing the beer selection, they know what they are doing.
This is a neighborhood establishment, and it is perfect for family dining. I have kids and do not hesitate to take them here.
One thing that I would not recommend though is the pizza. If that is what you are looking for, there are much better places. However there are plenty of other items on the menu and they are all good.

Been to olympic Tavern many times just gitten around to a review. Laid back atmosphere. great place to go during the week. Its tough to get a seat at the bar on the weekend. Beer selection is always great. Always several different beers here that surprise me. Great beer events with michigan breweries and random tasting on thursday nights. Service suffers on weekends, but is far durng the week. Ate supper here several times and its a bit pricey but food quality is high, same story with the beer. It a great occasional treat or great to hit up with when special beer event are going on!

The Olympic is within walking distance of my house and I've been there hundreds of times. To anyone reading the older reviews, you should know that the Olympic has stepped up their efforts with craft beer. They still have the same number of taps, but the selection is usually very well thought out, and the bottle selection is pretty extensive. I think that whoever is choosing the beer must be an IPA fan, because they seem to be a little overweighted in that department.
They have a pretty large menu and they do a nice job with the food. The pizza is great, although I don't think to many people get it. Everything from burgers to lobster. Several good salads and pasta dishes. Try to get a table in the new part of the restaurant, which has an attractive arts and crafts, or craftsman, theme. This is a very comfortable neighborhood joint, the type that is disappearing in Rockford and other cities I suspect. Whoever said it looks like a lounge from a 70s cop show never made it out of the bar, meaning they saw about 10% of the place. And you're not going to run into any "seedy hucksters" there either.

Stopped in with the wife for dinner on a Friday evening and sat at the bar. Approximately 10 beers or so listed on tap and a beer menu with a range of bottles was available as well. I was able to enjoy a Breakfast Stout and a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. They were out of a couple beers on their tap list.
The food was good but I would consider it a little expensive. There were other options that one could order cheaper though. Definitely not a cheap place for a couple to eat dinner on a Friday night.
All in all not a bad place.

This would be slightly impressive in Iowa, but in Illinois it is borderline beerfly. Don't get me wrong: it's a friendly joint, nice atmosphere and service and decent food, but the tap selection isn't impressive and the bottles aren't that great, either.
On tap there was lots of selections from inbev/bmc along with Rogue's Deadguy, SNPA, and Oberon. That was it.
The atmosphere is nice but very dark and the crowd is a little older--my friend and I were the only customers under 45. It reminded me of one of the bars or lounges you see in late 60s/early 70s cop shows--if John Rockford was tracking down some seedy huckster he could have found him here.
The neighborhood is nice and the architecture is pretty. They had full outdoor seating which was just exquisite since we happened to stop by on the first truly warm day of the year. The food was reasonably priced and okay, but not great.
A great, friendly hangout for locals, but hardly worth tracking down if you're a beer traveler.
