On tap at the Westminster, Colorado Rock Bottom. A pretty beer, this is a pleasantly warming American Porter, with a nice mahogany brown hue. Not overly malty, there is enough hops bitterness to make this decenlty thirs-quenching and respectably dry. One of the many pretty average Rock Bottom brews, this one honors Molly Brown, Denver socialite who survived the sinking of the Titanic.

Poured on-tap at the brewhouse in the Denver airport, the beer was served in a tall weisse vase. The beer is a vibrant, chestnut brown color, with a filmy, low profile, tan head. Nose of toasted nut, sweet cream, vanilla, and hints of chocolate. Flavors are tangy sweet nut and chocolate forward, almost sharp, on a thin, crisp body. Caramel and vanilla highlights, with a subtle, roasted sweet aftertaste. The finish is slightly watery, but still sweet. Start strong, but fell off quickly.

a plenty good brown ale here, pouring up a nice dark shade, deeper than many, with a short lived finger of tanish fluff. the nose is roasty and loaded with chocolate malt and toasted barley. smells english in style, rather than american, with some caramely sweetness. the flavor though has very little sweetness, and is actually much less robust than the nose lets on. the dark malt flavors are great, with a hint of cocoa powder in there as well. its as bitter as it is sweet in the finish, and is pretty easy drinking. the feel is really velvety soft, could have almost come from a nitro tap, its that creamy. body is perfect medium, and there is very little residual sugar. this exceeded my expectations and is one of the better regular beers at rock bottom.

A- Dark brown, slightly hazy, with a very thin off white head. Retention is poor with minimal lacing.
S- Aroma is milk chocolate and some caramel. A faint toastiness also lingers in the nose.
T- Caramel and chocolate on the tongue. A rather nice set of flavors with a fairly long finish.
M- Medium body, a bit chewy, medium-low carb.
O- One of the better beers from Rock Bottom that I have had.

On tap at the 16th Street Rock Bottom.
A - The beer was served in a pint glass. A deep dark brown with light almost amber mahogany edges in the light. A thin 1/4 finger tan colored head with virtually no retention or lacing. As the beer was poured right in front of me I can attest the head never developed and the thin head is not a result of settling while being served.
S - A nice aroma of roasted barley. Reminds me a bit of crackers and tea in the subtle sharpness.
T/M - The taste starts out rather pleasant with the roasted malts. Hints of coffee and espresso. The mild earthen bitterness from the hops compliments the malt very well and is quite well-balanced. However towards the end of the beer a distinct metallic flavor presents itself along with a definitive astringent pucker. Finishes dry with a nice roast flavor, though the metallic never truly fades. Medium carbonation.
O - It started out fairly well on the tongue but the off-flavors really turned this beer off for me. Others in my group who ordered a pint reported the same effect. Not sure what the problem was as I've had this beer before. I'd probably give it another shot and re-review. Also the beer is clearly displayed as a Brown Ale in the literature.
Note: This review was a re-post from my former account, jmkratt, which was hacked and I lost all my reviews...sorry for the redundancy.

Appearance: Pretty like for a porter...Looks more like a brown ale. Hm...still nice foam and lacing.
Smell: Chocolate and coffee. I feel like this combo gets old, but I still like it.
Taste/Mouthfeel: Good match with cheesecake. Chocolate is basically the main feature. Mouthfeel is pretty good, maybe a tad bit too carbonated.
Drinkability: A good beer. A great dessert beer.
Overall: See drinkability.

A little darker than brown, smells of rich dark caramel, tastes of thick chocolate, figgy caramel, raisins, and just a hint of roast coffee. A drinkable version of a porter, much more chocolatey than a Northern English brown, but a lot more dark caramel than the average American interpretation. Very light hop bitterness, avoiding the American brewer compulsion to add Cascade.

Clear dark brown pour with a small light beige head.
Nice aroma of roasted malts, caramel, and chocolate.
Roasty nutty flavor with bitter chocolate and malty sweetness.
Medium body with average carbonation.
An above average but not too exciting brown ale overall.

Served in a shaker pint glass.
A: Deep chestnut brown with a dense nougat cap. Head retention is quite good and bits of lace are left behind.
S: Roasted malts dominate the nose and are joined by a bit of black tea.
T: Starts out with flavors of toasted and roasted grain, plus a bit of coffee. Behind them is a well balanced earthy bitterness. Finishes rather dry, with lingering roasted grain flavors.
M: The medium-light body is dry and has very fine carbonation.
D: This is a nice beer overall and goes down easy. The lightness makes it a good candidate for a session.
