Dunkelweizen translates from German to mean dark wheat. Gordon Biersch Dunkelweizen highlights the undertones of dark-roasted malted wheat and the unique flavors produced by our special Hefeweizen yeast strain. Our Dunkelweizen adheres to all of the traditions of the Reinheitsgebot (German Purity Law of 1516) and is naturally carbonated.

Type: Draft
Glass: .5L+ glass (really like 21.5 oz.)
From: Gordon Biersch in Mission Valley (San Diego), Calif.
Price: $6.50
Purchased: March 1, 2015
Consumed: March 1, 2015
Misc.: N/A
Poured a caramel, auburn, murky color with four fingers of rocky, khaki cream head. Logs of good-looking bubble streams coming up from the bottom of the glass. Good foamy lacing. Great retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Smelled cloves, banana, Circus Peanuts, caramel, apple, green grape, light booziness and honey. (Smell - 4.00)
Tasted cloves, caramel, unknown German spices, banana, sour green apple, somewhat saisonish, green grape and honey. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium-to-light body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt, fruity finish. (Feel - 3.75)
This may be my top Gordon Biersch beer I’ve tried, even though I think I overrated this one a tad. (Overall - 3.75)

On tap at RDU. Don’t know if I’ve had this style before. Strong sweet taste. Some banana taste. Body is a beautiful cloudy amber. Love the look.
