Thanks Optimator13 for this one

A - A nice pretty amber pour, 1 finger white head.

S - Caramel, toffee, sugar, and a little candy.

T - Sweet malts, caramel, more sugar sweetness

M - Moderate carbonation, a little thin.

O - I've had this on tap, first time on the bottle. Much better on tap, this is just overly sweet for a maibock. Not my favorite example but I know GB can do better.

Gordon Biersch has a pretty good reputation in beer circles for their brewpubs that make beers on-site, so I decided to try their Maibock that I found on the shelves at Stateline Liquors in Elkton, MD.

The beer pours a reddish amber color with a tan head the quickly devolves to a sparse coating. The beer smells very malty with sweet apples notes, rising bread, and hints of oxidation like turn wine or bruised fruit (not good). The bock is very sweet with a thick layer of oxidation that lingers on the tongue leaving a clingy almost vegetal after taste. The oxidation tastes almost metallic like crushed apples sitting in an aluminum tin for days. I did not enjoy this beer very much and I would not try this again.

Light copper appearance, average head, carbonation, not much for lace. Not much for aroma.

Lighter in body than its appearance would suggest, carbonation is nicely done, very limited hop mouthfeel from this, something very low alpha acid I would expect. Sweetness is the predominant flavor, but not candy like by any means. Highly carbonated, largely drinkable, but not much defineable character beyond carbonation and sweet. Not complex by any means. A little bready downbottle, and the smell turned for the worse. Better when you pair it with their garlic fries, but what isn't?

(Served in a wide-mouthed pint glass)

A- This beer has a wildflower honey colored body with a slight hazy and a thin light beige head on top that is supported by a gentle carbonation.

S- The clean smell has notes of soft raw grain and light toasted malt notes.

T- The light taste of caramel malt is dry but is followed by a faint sweetness of pale malt. There is a smooth cream note in the finish.

M- This beer has a medium mouthfeel with a full texture as long as the head last, which is for a good part of the beer. There is no alcohol heat noticed.

D- This beer is a nice sipper with a very smooth flavor for a 7.0%ABV beer, but the muted flavors really leave me wanting more flavor. If they doubled the malt bill it would have a great flavor.

Had on the release night at the Plano GB. It is blood orange in color with lovely amber highlights. A light sand colored head that is quick to fade leaving nothing but a wispy collar.

Smell is of sweet malts and a light touch of grain alcohol. Gently toasted grains, honey and a touch of caramel.

Taste is sweet more then anything else but there is a soft toasted malt flavor with a defined grain alcohol note. A coy bitterness appears in the finish along with a distinct dry mouthfeel. Distant is a honey apricot creaminess that is nothing more then ok.

Look is the best feature of this beer. The nose slips as does the flavor but never to a point of damnation. The biggest problems of this beer, in my opinion it's the mouthfeel. Rough on the palate and dryer then I would expect for the style. Each sip seems to be more of a chore then a pleasure. It tastes like a cookie cutter beer and isn't as good as the others in GB year round line up. Worth a try but I'll look forward to the next seasonal.

Pours a deep red, creamy head quickly fades, it wreaks of malt, red apples (caramel).

Mouth; kiss of malt, cream, candied cranberry red apple, hops see the finish, though subtle provides for a fruity sweet tart finish.

Bubbles fade quickly from this med-heavy lager. I notice this isn't necessarily a 'bloating beer'. Still best enjoyed in moderation.

A - dark amber with a half of an inch of off-white, thick, dense, head that has great retention

S - caramel, apples, sweet

T - caramel, apples, faint hops, some sugar

M - medium bodied, well carbonated, smooth

The caramel and baked apple notes dominated this one. There are some faint hops for balance, but overall, it's sweet, fruity, and sticky. I'll pass in the future.

Appearance: Served in a tall glass. Copper with good lacing.

Smell: Malt liquor...not an unpleasant smell actually Caramel sweetness.

Taste/Mouthfeel: Extremely malty, maybe a bit too much like malt liquor. It could definitely use some more balance. Mouthfeel is clean but too flat in the finish.

Overall Drinkability: I was a bit disappointed in this. I feel like they froze a decent lager and then melted it in order to concentrate the alcohol ala an eisbock. This was a slight miss, but I would drink it again.

12oz bottle

A- Pours a clear dark amber/copper color with an off-white head.

S- The aroma is bready malt with caramel and hints of dark fruits.

T- The taste like the aroma is predominantly malty with a
a lot of sweetness from the malt up front with some caramel flavors and a moderate amount of hops in the finish.

M- The mouthfeel is light bodied with a high amount of carbonation.

O- Overall, not bad but not not great either. This one is right in the middle, a pretty average beer. Not something I would purchase again but not something I would turn down either.

Poured a half finger of head on a dark amber colored body.
The aroma has a faint grain smell.
The taste is nice and rich with roasted and caramel malt, it finishes with a mild bitterness.
the texture is crisp with moderate carbonation.
It's lacking in the appearance and smell but the taste is pretty good.

On tap at Gordon Biersch at the San Jose airport. Shame on GB for having Bud and Bud Light on tap here to appease the ignorant/brainwashed masses.

Clear medium amber color with minimal head.

Aroma is pleasant and sweet-smelling with caramel malt and some plum-like fruitiness.

Flavor is caramel malt and pale malt along with slight dark fruit notes. Very mild bittering hops come through on the finish. Decent.

Medium-bodied with low carbonation. Rather flat on the mouthfeel.

Overall, well, this is all right. Slight shortcomings on the palate and appearance are made up for by pretty good aroma and flavor for the style.

Pours a light amber with a nice off-white head. The aroma is appropriately malty with notes of caramel, toffee, green apples, bread dough, hay, a little mineraly and minty hops, and some alcohol. The flavor starts out with some bread dough and hay, green apples, toffee, raisin, mineraly hops, alcohol and some chalkiness. Mouthfeel is a little thicker than I expected, and drinkability is pretty good. Overall a solid maibock, but nothing particularly noteworthy.

Served on tap at the Columbus, OH location. Appears an amber color with darker reddish hues. Has a decent off-white head, nothing overly impressive here.

Smells very sweet and malty. Bready, caramel and fruity are the best ways to describe the smells. Not really any hops in the nose, definitely just a sweet smelling brew. The taste corresponds to the nose very well - lots of malt. Caramel, and fruit are both present. The end of each sip is slightly bitter.

Mouthfeel is definitely light with an average amount of carbonation. Overall, not an impressive brew, just fairly average. A decent summer beer, and it went well with my meal, but didn't make me want to go back for more.

Bottle, poured into a standard pint glass. Clear amber/orange color with an average small off-white head that dissipates to nothing rather quickly.

Mostly malty aromas. Mix of bready, caramel and some sweet dark fruit smell peeking through.

Taste is sweet malts. Some of that dark fruit flavor showing up. Perhaps a little too sweet. A tiny hint of hops kind of shows up in the finish. but it's not really that noticeable.

Medium bodied with a fizzy carbonation and moderate finish. I don't know. I don't really love the beer. It's not fantastic and there's nothing exciting about this beer. Then again I don't hate it either. Just nothing I'd ever buy again. Distributors must've started pushing this beer around here about a year ago. It seemed like every bar or liquor store was getting this stuff.

On tap, Gordon Biersch, Myrtle Beach

A- pours a hazy golden orange color with a small white head with decent retention

S- light floral hop, sweet bready malt, fruity notes with a bit if yeast

T- moderate floral hop with some fruity, apple-like flavor. The malt is sugary and sweet with a clean-yet-fruity finish

M- medium-heavy body, slightly viscous and sticky mouthfeel with a creamy finish. Alcohol is hidden very well

O- easy drinking spring seasonal, this ine can catch up with you fast as the alcohol is hidden very well. Glad to try, but probably won't buy again.

Pours out to a reddish amber with a head that subsides immediately.

Smell is of deep honey, grapes.

Taste is exactly what I expected from the smell. Fairly sweet, with a decent bite of the hoppy finish. Pretty balanced for this type of beer.

Mouthfeel was a bit on the thin, carbonated side, which I felt didn't work too well with this beer.

Drinkability is fairly good.
