Poured from a longneck into a shaker. A moderate pour produces a billowing 1.5 inch frothy, white head that dissipates into a continuous sheen that sticks around pretty well. The beer is a pale copper color ("strawberry blonde"), crystal clear, and with light carbonation.

A very delicate floral hop aroma is apparent, along with a little DMS. The flavor could be described as snappy, with a decent hit of spice and some citrus to balance out the grain or cracker-like malt base. The body/mouthfeel is very moderate, with some lingering frothiness. A little bit of alcohol warming is apparent, to accentuate the spice and herbal notes.

The beer goes down easy and is just light enough to make it a bit dangerous as a session beer. It strikes me as an excellent example of a light bodied beer with some complex flavors and an alcohol bite, which is just what you want in a bock.

According to the brewery's website, I should not be able to buy this beer within a hundred miles of where I live, but I actually bought a six pack at Front Street Market in Butte, Montana. It was 7-something a six pack on sale.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass

Appearance – The beer pours a clear amber color with a one finger head of white foam. The head fades quite fast to leave only a trace of lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma is big and bready with lots of sweet caramel smells. Some lighter hop aromas, of a grassy and citrus nature, are mixed with these subduing the sweetness ever so slightly.

Taste – The taste begins with a moderate doughy taste mixed with lots of sweeter flavors. The sweet is a mix of fruit, caramel and honey with the caramel being the dominate taste but complemented well by some apple and pear. As the taste moves on, some hop hits the tongue with a bit of a grassy and citrus hop coming along. All the while, the doughy flavors dwindle a bit while the sweet flavors get slightly stronger. With a decent, but not obnoxious, alcohol taste coming to the tongue at the end, a rather nice sweet and lightly hopped warming taste is left to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thicker and chewier side with a carbonation level that is on the lower side. The thicker body and lower carbonation help create that creamy feel which is quite nice for the sweet, light hop and light booze flavors of the brew.

Overall –A bit sweeter and less malty then I was anticipating, but very pleasant none the less. A nice brew for the price.

A - Hazy orange gold. Expertly performs a disappearing head trick. Lots of bubbles rising to the top.

S - Sweet bread with a bit of caramel and grassiness.

T - Somewhat sweet bread to start, end and aftertaste was pretty unpleasant sour. Tasted 'old', I don't know how to put it. Another reviewer said astringent.

M - Loads of carbonation is fun but the aftertaste lingers too long and it is an unpleasant one.

O - Not really my thing, and there are other beers in this category that can do it more justice.
