Presents in a 12oz. brown bottle with the bottled date marked on the back. The beer pours a weak one finger white head that disappears quickly, leaving no trace. A very clean straw yellow color. Not an impressive appearance.

As I take my first smell, it flashes me back to my days of downing Milwaukee's Best Light after losing at beer-pong. I can’t describe the smell very well other than it smelling like a cheap American Lager. The taste is more of the same. Nothing special. Starts like carbonated water and ends with a slight hop bitterness to remind you that you are drinking a beer. The mouthfeel is that of carbonated water. As for drinkability; I could drink it but, why would I want to? (700 characters)

First had: on tap at Gordon Biersch, Broomfield, CO

Poured a golden-yellow with a small fizzy white head that fizzled out rather quickly. Grainy aroma, with a light citrusy hop profile. Simple taste, nothing too interesting happening. Lightly toasted grains and light citrus and piney hops, leaving a somewhat bitter aftertaste. Balanced, but just too light for me. Drinkable if you're playing it conservative. (411 characters)

Enjoyed on-tap at the Miami brewpub. Medium yellow coloured body with some white head, and lacey. Not a good aroma, cheesy beer smell.A decent bitterness tht has a fresh crispness, though dry. Some apple juice. Better when it was just below room temperature.Below average mouthfeel. (282 characters)

A straw colored beer, a white small head, no lacing, no curtains.

Sweet smell of apples an lemon.

Sweet white bread, lemonade, some apple peel.

Medium high carbonation, soft small bubbles, a light dry finish.

A bit too sweet, reminds of euro pale lager. (257 characters)

I've determined that GB makes the most beautiful, most average to funky tasting beer ever. This from a brewer who was educated at the great Weihenstephaner beer University.
Appearance: golden, always beautiful, f...ing gold
Smell: hmmm, there's that smell again, what is it? motor oil? mixed with malt and hops of course
Taste: this beer is a subtler version of the blonde bock which I found undrinkable. GB has a funk all it's own, too bad it's a nasty funk
Mouthfeel: moot, at this point
I really wanted to like this beer, I didn't want to believe the plethora of negative comments about GB. I will not purchase another GB product. I've renamed this beer "Golden Shower" (677 characters)

(Served in a wide-mouthed pint glass)

A- This beer has pale straw yellow hued body with a gentle carbonation of bubbles gliding to the surface. On top is a thin white head of foam that is perfectly calm for a good bit then breaks up into a thin ring.

S- The clean smell of light sulfur gives way to raw grain notes and a finish of soft noble hops.

T- The sulfury noble hop bite is the first taste but notes of tap water and field corn come through soon after. There is a green noble hop finish with a raw grain flavor coming out as the beer warms a bit.

M- This beer has a light mouthfeel with a crisp fizzy texture at the finish.

D- This veer has a big crisp sulfury flavor with other flavors falling behind or are covered up. I don't hate this beer there is just little flavor character to review. (817 characters)

Aroma of noble hops w some malt. Golden straw color, very clear. Mild hop bitterness, with mellow malt. Overall, good session beer, but a bit thin for my pallet. Restaurant setting w a nice outdoor seating area. Food caters to the masses, as does the beer. (256 characters)

Poured a darker golden color with a 2 finger white head that dissipated rather quickly. Light carbonation seen rising.

Aroma was light hops, light malts. Not much happening.

Taste was light hops, some citrus, sweet malts. Again, not a lot going on. Tasted slightly off.

Mouthfeel was very light and lightly cleansing.

Overall, somewhat refreshing. Not one I would search out. Just too light and lacking any character. (421 characters)

Poured from a tap into a .5L glass at Gordon Biersch (San Diego). Missed seeing the pour, but when it arrived there was about a ¼-inch of film. Color looked honey golden with a small hint of orange.

Nothing too special about the smell, maybe even a bit skunky. Pretty plain if anything.

Clean and refreshing taste. Malty. Better than the smell.

Pretty high on the carbonation. Bitter, but the freshness makes it easy to drink.

Not a bad beer overall, which is surprising considering their other beers. I would order this again, especially at GB considering their other options. Good beer for the summer. (609 characters)

Served in a .5L glass:

The beer appeared a clear yellow, with a decent white head that had some retention that receded too fast and almost completely.

The beer gave off a slight aroma, mainly a light malty/grainy aroma. Nothing much else to speak of.

The taste, upon my first sip, followed the nose, it was lighter than expected, but it has a sweet grain/bready flavor to it. I would have likened the beer to an English Pale Ale, having never tried a Dortmunder.

The beer felt light and maybe a bit over carbonated, but overall felt right. The beer's best quality was the drinkability. I could have easily could have downed a couple without thinking about it. Overall, a decent beer, but certainly not one that I would seek out or make a special trip to try. (763 characters)

Had this beer while I was waiting for the plane to take off from LAX, which it did, fours hours late, so its probably a good thing the beer selection is limited at the airport.

The beer pours a typical lager/pils golden yellow, monstrous bright white head, frothy in texture and the lace a thin sheet to cover the glass. Nose is the archetypal sweet malt, crisp and clean with the start excessively sweet, fair malt presence, top thin as my patience after sitting in the airport for almost 8 hours. Finish brisk in its carbonation and the hops apropos to the style, quite dry aftertaste that lingers on to long. (614 characters)

Light straw gold color. Medium white foamy head. Aroma is grainy, fruity and sweet. A light bodied dortmunder style lager. Lightly hopped, lightly malted. Mild flavor. Malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are slighty spicy. Finish is clean. Aftertaste is slightly malty, not bitter. (278 characters)

A: Pours a clear straw yellow color. A minimal white head forms, and recedes to nothing in a second. Not much lace to speak of.
S: Sweet and grainy malt. Bread and biscuit. Kind of bland.
T: Follows the nose, and like the nose this is pretty bland. Sweet grainy malt. Bread and biscuit.
M/D: A medium body and crisp carbonation. Thin and watery. Easy to drink. Not hard to put back a few.

Just bland. Nothing wrong with this beer, but uninspired. Good for what it is, a light lager. Though nothing that resembles a Dortmunder/Export Lager. (545 characters)

So this is a Dortmunder. Nice hops and gold (not yellow!) color. Medium head and minimal lacing. While crisp and refreshing, this is by no means GB's best beer, if you are getting a GB, go for the Marzen or Dunkles. (215 characters)

A light, seethru golden body with minimal head that did stay with the beer and maintained some lacings. A crisp, earthy smell belied by some hop bitterness and some fruit notes. A watery, almost bland beer but there is a sharp hop bite and it does go down smooth. I guess this is there version of a light beer, and it is better than a Bud or Miller. That being said, I think this is the beer a non-beer drinker gets and if you like real beer you can skip this, trust me. (470 characters)

Draft pint, served in GB logo glass.
Gold Medal winner at the Great American Beer Festival, Denver 2014.
Clear, yellow color with a short white head. Foam settles to thin cap, thin streaky lace.
Smell is pretty basic malt, grain, and some grass.
Taste is much the same, grainy, grassy flavor, mild hop bitterness at the end.
Low level of carbonation, crisp and clean, medium body and mouth feel.
Overall, this is a light and refreshing, drinkable beer. Hits the style as needed.

Note to self: Rated #24 Dortmunder / Export Lager when I reviewed it. (551 characters)

As usual, a very good-looking beer. Taste is simply malt and a slight sourness that seems common in Gordon Biersch beers. Not impressive but not bad. This beer goes really well with the pot stickers. Actually tastes better with them than without. (246 characters)

On tap at Gordon Biersch in Burbank, CA.

Pours a clear yellow with a foamy bone colored head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Thin streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, and some fruity aromas. Taste is much the same with a grassy flavor on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is an above average beer that is drinkable but nothing I would go after again. (563 characters)

Sampled at Gordon Biersch restaurant in Dallas, TX. Pours light-golden hue. Aroma is of hops and some biscuit malt. Body is medium, crisp. Piny hops and biscuit malt are balanced on the palate. Long, dry finish. On the whole, it is nice Helles lager. (250 characters)

This beer is a bright golden yellow, clear, with a moderate head and very little lacing effect. The aroma is fairly light with a nice malt sense. This is also a very crisp beer with plenty of bready grain sense. A good solid beer, but not one tha will set the world on fire. A bit light in body sense. (301 characters)

From 10/22/11 notes. On tap at the DC location.

a - Pours a clear, pale yellow color with one inch of white head and low carbonation evident.

s - Smells of grain, corn, wheat, and some pale bready malts. Lightly sweet but not a ton going on.

t - Tastes of grains, corn, and bready malts. Pretty average and a bit of a step down from the nose.

m - Light mody and low to moderate carbonation.

o - Overall a pretty average lager. Lots of that grain and corn in the nose and taste. Not bad at all, but pretty average. Would suggest trying one of their other beers. (565 characters)

From Kansas City Restaurant

Appearance: It has a golden colored body. The white head and lace are rocky and spread out.

Smell: It has a very corny aroma with a little hint of bread and faint hops.

Taste: Also corny and metallic with bread dough flavors. It has a bit of a crisp bitterness in the end.

Mouthfeel: Very thin and light.

Overall: Alright for sampling it isn’t something I would just order (407 characters)

True to German style; a good drinking/eating beer but not overly flavorful

Appearance: Pale yellow, little head and lacing

Smell: Faintly malty

Taste: Very slight malt flavor and finishes nutty

Mouthfeel: Slightly bitter on the initial sip but finishes relatively smooth

Drinkability: Versatile; goes well with a burger or other Gordon Biersch fare (353 characters)

Served on tap in a pilsner glass

Appearance – Served a clear golden colored brew with a two finger pure white head of foam. The head faded slowly over time to leave a moderate level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma of the brew was slightly grainy with a moderately bready base. Along with these aromas were some lighter aromas of caramel and corn and a bit of grass.

Taste – The taste begins with a slightly grainy and bready taste along with a little bit of a corn malt flavor. As the taste advances some sweetness of a caramel nature comes to the tongue. Along with this, a grassy hop taste and a little bit of herb come to the tongue. With an increase in the grain, a decrease in the sweeter flavors and a little bit of a cracker flavor coming to the tongue at the end of the taste, one is left with a crisp and slightly drier malt flavor to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer was on the lighter side in terms of thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that was on the slightly higher side. Both are rather nice for the style and make for a very easy drinking, crisp, and refreshing beer.

Overall – A decent lager with a very easy drinking taste and feel. Nothing outstanding but rather crisp and refreshing. (1,282 characters)

Nothing special. Just straight Export Lager. Nothing about the hops, malt or body was interesting. I really hold up Great Lakes Dortmunder as the best example of this style. Try the Marzen, it is more interesting.

Overall, good food. Unfortunately, picked the wrong night to go as the place was packed to the rafters. (320 characters)
